The real thing to be envious of is that from Mt Binga north to Blackbutt is undulating good condition bitumen full of curves with 80 kph advisory speed signs. You don't have to do that of course.

    "The beast" is right !
If they weren't so ugly , I would have one in the shed .

Interesting to hear your comment on ease of riding - good to know .

I don't get the current bug eye insect looking trend these days .

My 950 adventure was considered ugly when it came out, but it was designed to race Dakar .

Now this one isn't mine, saw it in Caboolture today, but it's the only one of these I've seen that I think looks good. And all the owners done is an elegant bob job on the back mudguard, put on fat T bars, small indicators and slipon mufflers. Looks much better.

New rubber for the back of the Vic bagger, 180 65 B16 American Elite.
This will be the 3rd it's had. One look and you can see why they're such good tyres on dirt, wide deep grooves that cover the full width of the tyre. Great rubber for riding to Cape York, or work.
Better wet grip on the centreline rubber than an E3 or a Commander 2, about as good as an E4, but a much better tread pattern than an E4 for my needs.

Ran them on the Street Glide, great long life in them but a got a set. They tip in a shit load easier than the car tyres on the rear...lol

I got about 12,000 kms from both the previous ones. An Avon Cobra on the front made the tip ins easy when running car radials on the back, but of course you had to hold the counter steering pressure on on all the way to the apex.

I think i did maybe two fronts if not a third to one rear car tyre on the rocket....it would push the front very badly causing the front to tear its self to bits. Coolest thing was pulling up to the lights and not having to put your feet down due to the width of that huge flat rear tyre.

What size were you running on the Rocket? 225?
The Vic bagger feels best on 195 55s, a lot better than 205 50s, narrower the better I think, with as stiff a sidewall as you can find.
I never did try a run flat, they're supposed to be good but hard to fit without a proper tyre machine. Because of the spoked wheel on the Vic I was running inner tubes and didn't want to make roadside puncture repairs any harder. That was part of the motivation to have the rim sealed and go tubeless, but I went back to bike tyres after that.
Some of those old Swedish choppers with the monster wide car tyres looked good I reckon.

I had a 225 and then tried a 195. The 225 was difficult to ride even on a relatively neutral camber rd....introduce a camber and it was very difficult to stop it trying to head of in that direction. A good mate tried to ride it with the big tyre....he went straight out my driveway and up the neighbor drive, put the bike on the side stand and that was ride over for him. The smaller tyre was not only lighter but gave a slightly rounder profile on the 8 inch rim. All tyres ran tubeless.

Any cunt that is dumb enough to put a car tyre on a motorbike deserves what they get.

Can't think what I got but 40,000 kms of good traction wet and dry from a total of 5 of them.
Never got the life out of them that the yanks seem to, but Oz roads a different.
Oh yeah, the fun of taking the piss out of amateur tyre engineers, who would tell you that it wouldn't go round corners, while we were standing on top of Mt Mee, or after outrunning them up the Perserverence dam road.
    Don't run them now.
