Looks like a good job......USA import with the higher bars?

Correct, I'm the third owner, the second owner imported from the States.
I have stripped to the frame, new paint, updated to tapered roller St. Head bearings. New rims, spokes, motor vapour blasted. Engine covers and brake backing plates polished, new clutch and wiring loom, new tyres tubes and white walling.
    Voltage regulator fitted.
My memory is exhausted, I need a beer.
    Cheers

Yes have been lost a few times but nothing serious. That helmet is way way pre dating this bike and has been a great lid. Sadly you cant get them anymore and the lid is very close to having to be replaced. I use the same lid on my red street glide so color co ordination is out the window there.

hey guys i recently picked up a yamaha royal star as a project bike, i couldnt afford another harley so it is my pretend road king. probably a long shot but i am looking for a set of pipes for it. it is the model with four mufflers. 1999 model so getting on a bit and most of the later model stuff has only 2 exhausts. probably not the best project bike as parts are a bit rare in oz but it is fun to ride.thanks potluk

Found this little cutie, 1980 XL250 when I was cleaning out the Obi shed before I sold the place. I knew it was in there somewhere, just hadn't been able to see it for 10 years. It hadn't run for about 15 years, hadn't had the tyres pumped up for about 12 years. Moved it out to the old school. A couple of months ago I pumped up the tyres and a week later saw they were still holding air. Wondered if it would start. Checked the oil, poured in some 40:1 two stroke mix for top end lubrication in case it did start, kicked it over...... This isn't a fairy tale, so it didn't start.  The next day though  after pulling out an oilsoaked rotting air filter and a small dose of starting ether, the mild mannered put put putting of a Honda single filled the air.

Feck me, Obi. I have lost a couple of nuts and bolts and even a screwdriver once, but I have never lost a whole motorcycle!!!

Looks like it would make a good farm hack or neat little restoration job to whittle away those afternoons you aren't out riding.

Just went down the obi this morning....as normal the dirt is shut and the traffic diverted via the tar side. When you get to the bottom road closed signs. Anyway heading towards your old joint EVERY bridge had water over it with the deepest perhaps only 30-60cm. When you turn left towards Kenilworth the road has gooooone!
Anyway a 1hr ride has taken me nearly 4 with SES closing roads and penning people in but after hitting a washed out section at around 100kph decided to ease back and cruise home. Who would have thought you could have an adventure on the road!

I was generally OK with doing the down road no matter what the weather, I just wasn't happy when they "repaired it" by dumping clay rich sludge on it, rolled it then put the watertruck over it before knocking off for the day. It was as slippery as greased batshit until the fines washed out. At other times....... well my 1.5km driveway was steeper.

Hey, having adventures on the road was why I bought the land at Obi when I was 25. I had seen Easy Rider too many times and my ambition in life was to buy a place in the bush with a great swimming hole just right for filling up with naked hippie girls, ride my bikes (750 Norton then) have adventures and do what ever I had to to keep the show on the road. So I did.
Oh yes, and to avoid Louisiana in duck season and never drop acid with strange women in cemeteries.

Can relate to that but you did it every day i only "Enjoyed" it 3 or 4 times a week. The last lefthander before you got to the bottom has caught me out a few times with the off camber wet clay.

Yeah, that one is shaded all day, no direct sunlight at all, never dries out.
If you do the road every day, you end up with a pretty good idea what it will be like in any weather.
Although you can still get surprised, turned left at end of Obi Rd headed for Kenilworth in Jan 1992? and the bridge wasn't there.

OOPS!! Well one of those photos was from just before the bridge that i posted. I have never seen such damage over such a wide area before. One river crossing was around 8m underwater and out the back of brooloo was a inland lake...looked like what they wanted to do to the traveston area.
