this was my first bike,it was where the importance of  understanding of how things worked & maintenance began I recon I knew every nut & bolt on that bike. I bought it running but needed clutch rebuild the previous owner was Racing it in the vintage racing class so was  not original. 2 years later this was my woks end result & kept it for another 30 odd yrs, what a beautiful thing to ride

I've got a couple of oldish sports tourers,

2002 Honda ST1100, opposed liquid cooled V4 with shaft drive, this is what I use for touring, this model is a bit long in the tooth now, but I cannot fault it, it's nothing flash, actually when I am not riding this bike I often think of selling it because its bland, it's basically a two wheeled Toyota Camry,
But as soon as I hop on for a ride, all misgivings disappear, this bike is a pleasure to ride and does everything it was designed to do perfectly,

but it's bland (panniers must have been off this day)

And the second one is a 1995 Triumph Trophy 900, I had this before the Honda, because I like the bike and they are worth fuck all , I kept it, I never think about selling this bike like I do the Honda, It's a 3 cylinder liquid cooled six speed chain drive, there is lots to like about this bike, I love the styling, the 3 cylinder motor is a gem which sound great , it's an excellent well built motorcycle with lot's of character, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, the Honda wins,

Wow LB. Is there any bike you haven't had, job you haven't done, or place you haven't visited. I feel very inadequate. Cheers

Feel pretty bloody fortunate. 2013 R1200GS, seen plenty of Australia, bitumen and ‘000kms of dirt. 2005 749S - enough said! (just don’t ride on double demerit point weekends!). 1983 1100 Katana (more work to be done, but a labour of love).

1995 model 20th Anniversary Gold Wing. Jen and I took delivery in Oct '94. We have a lot of interstate touring up with that bike, some with a trailer. I still have the old girl (the bike, you idjit) as well as a 2005 30th Anniversary with bugger all kms on it. Since the onset of Jen's illness I don't get to tour any more and she is unable to even ride pillion these days.

Just put my name down for one of these new Yamaha 700 Tenere Parallel Twins, no release date yet, but will make a great mid range dirt tourer to go with the barge Trumpy and HardKits Husky
