One more nail in the Harley coffin?

Thanks for posting KC. I know of one couple that went from quite a late model GW to a CVO Road Glide. They love the RG more because you sit in it as apposed to sitting on it.

Tourers are not my thing, and to be honest the Goldwing lacks the character and styling of the Harley tourers.  But looking at the engineering and technology of this bike is like looking into the future, compared to what Harley have on offer.  Problem for Harley is that Honda is making these bikes now.

I think Lemmy hit the nail on the head when he described that bike as an ST1800 not a GL1800, that's not necessarily a bad thing but not really my cup of tea.

Geoff in terms of design brief it fits in the same class of bike to what you and i have, a tourer. Ours may well be a stripped down version of the direct competitor the mighty ULTRA . Before i bought my Street Glide i rode all the big boppers, BMW six cyl, Goldwing, Ultra as well as the BMW 1200. First ride on all put the HD last for everything! The local dealer then asked me what i wanted to make the HD into a contender. Seat , shocks, pipes, a/c,  tuner were all put on their demo and transformed the bike into something i ultimately bought. Would i buy the same bike today, perhaps not with new players like Indian getting great reviews but man are they an ugly looking bike!

I have lapped Aus on a GL 1800, and a Ultra Classic, I’d take the Harley any day, and the pillion agrees with me.
