Battery Boil

Went for a ride today and knocked out 400 odd K, when I got home I noticed liquid dripping from under the seat. On closer inspection I found the battery to be blowing steam and acid out of the top ( this is a sealed battery by the way) so it was coming from the small holes at each end of the battery  and this is on a brand new bike. Has anyone else experienced this.
    Cheers

agree, sounds like overcharge from failed regulator.,did you hose off all the vapour ect that came from the battery...nasty mess on its way if not.

Yes I have given the Bike a good clean the only problem I am having now is making contact with the dealership I purchased the Bike from. They are so busy there they cannot return my calls. Not happy.

Update. The Dealership contacted me by e mail and have told me to make contact with a Harley dealership closer to where I live and get them to sort the problem out under warranty. It would seem the Dealership where i purchased the bike don't give a flying fuck.

Yeh Pauly I can understand that I do live away from the dealership but yes I thought they may have called the other dealer on my behalf but the general tone of the e mail is " its not our problem" sort it out yourself. Hey they are going to be the losers at the end of the day mate because I will not buy another bike from them and neither will some people I know that were ready to purchase new bikes. I just think its poor service on there behalf.

Be nice (or reasonable) to your nearest dealer and they should do the job for you mate.
It is a shit when a brand newie fucks up but it happens all the time. That's what warranty is for.

Ive found a dealer that is close by that will have a look at the bike. My whole point is the way in which the dealer that I purchased the bike from was not interested in making contact. Over the years I have purchased a few brand new Cars and Bikes from different dealers and if there have been any problems or questions which i or my wife needed answered or dealt with they were always handled in an amicable way but not this time. Also I have found out that none of the paperwork for my Road Side Assist or H.O.G international membership has been lodged and considering the Bike was purchased late last year I find it piss poor, hence when I made contact with Roadside Assist it was a series of hoops to jump through to get the ball rolling and they have been more than helpful.

I would send off an email to HD Australia with a copy of email you recieved from purchase dealer. Outlining the run around. I am sure you will get it all sorted from new dealer.
Also mention how none of the Hog or assist was lodged.
    Good luck

mate of mine told me, when he was on a run in west Aussie around xmas time few years back. his genuine hd battery boiled from the heat was 50c where they were at the time. what temps were you riding in? as softail has battery mounted with the oil tank wrapped around it.
dealers over there would have seen it before , I'm sure. I've had one battery blow up while I was riding once but not from boiling think breather got blocked.

The dealer has my bike ready and after speaking to them on the phone it was the battery itself that was the problem as the charging system was tested and came up all good. The day the battery boiled was warm but not really to hot by WA standards the air temp would have been no more than the mid 20s so it looks as though my Bike may have came with a lemon of a Battery. It will be something i keep my eye on in the future especially if I do end up riding in hot weather.

agree with double checks,as well, check after a run when everything is "hot" [ at operating temp/voltage] and see what values you have then.cheers
