2016 FXDWG tyre advice please

I know that tyres are extensively covered on most forums but Ive had a little search and am still unsure of my options.

I am about to order a set of tyres for my 2016 FXDWG. I was reasonably satisfied with the standard Scorchers. They offered reasonable grip and I got 10000km out of them. I'm just not real interest in paying top dollar for a product made in Thailand just because it has HD written on the wall LOL. Years ago when the Aussie dollar was stronger I would order tyres online from overseas (Avon Cobras) as it was cheaper however it doesn't appear to be the case at the moment.

Anyway my question is to all you FXDWG riders - can you recommend a alternative make / model of tyre and place to purchase that offers some value for money.
    Thanks in advance.

After the original scorcher (10 000k)I went for a Pirelli Night dragon which seems to be a gripper and better handling tyre with the down side after 6500k's the tyre is down to it's wear indicators, I do recommend the night dragon, but I might try the Metzler 888 marathon next (apparently not as grippy but should last longer)

try the dunlop GT502, get from motoX shops typically, in Vic $290 if take wheel in

with night dragon or dunlop can get about 13,000kms, 40psi cold. The dragon a rounded tyre so easier for twisty riding.

use the Avon Cobra 90/90-21 for front, about 170$ fitted if take wheel in

go with a 90 / 90 x 21 up front, no matter what brand you lean towards. I run Michellin Commander 2 tyres,

Night Dragons here. Haven't had it long enough to give milage but I like Pirellis even if they do wear quicker.

I thrashed the stock HD Michelins for 16000ks along the coastal roads from melb to Sydney several times, the Hume several times inc. 6hrs of torrential rain.
I ground foot pegs off and ran out of tyre edge.. I mean everyone bags the stockies out but I did great by them on my WG.

Switched to Dunlop’s this time, hate them, the profile on them is weird and I’ve got very little confidence in throwing the bike into corners.

i know its not a wg ,but just fitted a pair of commander 2 to my lowrider and it feels a lot better through corners and round abouts even with just a few hundred km's on them. i'm only guessing, but i reckon the side walls might be a bit softer than the hd dunlops i took off,i as the ride with the same pressures over a familiar road seems smoother and the bars are a lot smoother.got 13.300 km out of the dunlops which seemed ok,just didnt like the tyres, very slippery in the wet.

Bruce, am with you. Do not like the Dunlops either.
Going for, as the fat red man suggests, Avon again, after a 46 year hiatus since my last on K1.(TT100)
They were ok then and reckon I'll give them ago once more, next week too.. Pirelli, well you know you can"t go wrong, but longevity is always the compromise.
Metzler, always found too hard for me, ok for a whopping big German Machine, thought should be good for big fucken whopping Yankee machine?
Not saying anything most don"t already know.

Interesting to note, Pirelli owns Metzeler, and Pirelli is owned by the Chinese.
The Pirelli Dragon Sport tyres fitted to my ute are made in China !!

I'm sure that the Me880 and the Night dragon share the same carcass and compound, and made in Brazil.

Recently changed the front tyre on my WG from Dunlop 402 to Avon cobra 90/90 21, the Dunlop lasted about 8k and I never really felt good in the twistes with it. Put on the Avon and hit the corners and feel really confident now, I don't a expect it to last, but I don't give a shit, it's sticky. Am running a Dunlop 401 on the back, it done about 8k and still has plenty left on it, haven't had in the water yet but it pretty good in the dry.

K'en hell. done a years as tyre fitta myself.
    It aint that hard.
But compound/value/vehicle weight/conditions for Australia/ must all blend.
Just dont"t go cheapo, as pay for what you purchase.Ya know the words....
