Use a spray can of lithium grease or RP7 with a nozzle. Spray inside the lock mechanism and let it sit for a while, even over night. Then try to un-lock with the key. I've had this happen on many locks (not disk locks, but the concept is the same). What happens is a bit of moisture gets inside and causes the locking mechanism to rust slightly which binds it up. What I'd also do is rotate the wheel so the lock is at the bottom. This way the keyhole is at the top and gravity will allow the spray to work it's way down through the mechanism.
If that fails, use an angle grinder like others have suggested.

Agree with Kingchops, WD 40 the internals of the lock as well as between the lock aiming for the pin. Leave overnight and while tuning the key in the lock use a rubber mallet or hammer and GENTLY tap the lock from either side. The pin that goes through the disc may well have rusted/corroded not allowing it to retract. Don't forget most importantly when it does release clean the disc with brake cleaner to remove all traces of WD 40

Lot of good suggestions above ....
Better still ,,,, take it to a doggy part of town,,,, have a stake out close by with a good view of the bike ,,,,, and let the experts unlock it ,,,, sling the guy 10 bucks when his finished ...... Sorry Bloodog ,,, I couldn't help myself .........

The price you pay for pissing off overseas and leaving your pride and joy alone for a while.
With the Darwin humidity, I concur with the corrosion in the locking mechanism theory, RP-7 or WD-30 away.

bugga !
thats always been a fear of mine with those disc locks
if the wd40 dont work the pin is usually hardened steel but if you can get the wheel off and remove the disc, a hack saw blade and a 6 pack should see you through

The one I have has a cord you loop over the bars to remind you to remove it.

True, I have noticed the newer ones have the cord - good idea.

Although it would be hard in that position For future reference soaking in vinegar breaks the bond that corrosion makes especially good for rusty threads & the like

Hi BD. Was a good thought about the bike lock. Shame it didn't pan out. Time to sell the bike me thinks before incident 3.
It's only been less than 3 days since you first posted, did you try any of the other less extreme methods?
