Congrats on your new bike. I ride a 1993 Heritage Softail and see no reason to update. Evo's are great motor's just keep your sevice's and maintenance done and you will have a bike that will last you a lifetime. Just a little bit of advice ride a evo like it's meant to be ridden they are not a race bike, if you got mates with later model bikes who ride hard let them go in front and just kick back and enjoy the ride the world goes fast enough now cheers.

Hmm let's see how many posts I read about twin cam's been rebuilt after 30,000ks now let's see how many posts I seen about evo's been rebuilt after the same amount of ks....twin cam's win. Chriso I did own a twin cam and I spent a shit load of money on it to make it reliable, gear drive cams, flywheel welded, hi flow oil pump, it was a great bike but it never had the same feel as my evo's . Call it old skool or whatever but there is a reason evo riders love there bikes. Btw I don't care what anyone rides be it the new M8, twin cam's, evo's or even jap bikes as long as we are riding and going by what the government's of today who seems to be keen to get bikes off the road who knows if we will even be riding in year's to come.

Do your new bike and your wallet a favour, head to supercheap and bung Penrite 20w-60 Diesel in the engine.

Hey Sporty one thing to keep an eye on is your cam bearing. Harley used a bearing called INA to save a couple dollars and for some unlucky people these bearings let go causing some damage to there motor happened on a mates 96 Roadking and he only had low ks on his bike. A lot of owners will change there INA cam bearing to a Torrington bearing, not saying that every Harley that runs a INA bearing will have trouble but just want to make aware that some have had cam bearing failure. I sure others on this forum will agree it's worth keeping an eye on cheers.

From the photo, it looks as if some changes have been made. If you are running adjustable pushrods, chances are the cam has been changed out and if so, 99.9% chance the bearing was swapped out as well.

Cruising at 110 to 130 keeps these girls happy enough. Out of habit, I shortchange 2nd to 3rd but other than that, ride as per normal. At 100klms, usually kick down to 4th if overtaking, gets the revs up and brings the cam into play.
