Those that watch Harley related stuff on Youtube may have seen content from Matt Laidlaw.  He works at his family's dealership and mostly posts stuff about new models etc.  But I came across this video in which he explains why motorcycling is in decline.  He clearly is a thinker and knows his industry.

Good watch, with some valid points highlighted, but that is the way of the world now, see where our motor industry in Aust is ?

Sell a I pad or smart phone with every bike ? Dealerships in the states will consolidate and disappear, CA they are in every county.

I think HD could help their cause by supporting the product and customers better when there are known issues. Eg. When I got the 2014 Ultra at 6K, China told me to expect the failed water pump. That he and MANY others had experienced the same issue. I read all about it on the forums and on Google but pressed on. When I took the bike in for its first service, they told me the problem was very intermittent and I'd be very unlikely to suffer the same fate. Soon after the 16k service, sure enough. It failed. HD were happy to take nearly $700 off me. In 16k and 3 years! That's the sort of thing that pisses people off.

Fully agree with steelo. My 2012 street glide has had a rectifier issue. Read the internet to find that USA dealers were replacing it under warranty at service times yet $300 odd dollars later HD Aust have never heard of it. We own a Hyundai and now thats really how you look after your customers........and guess what i will look at a Hyundai again in the future as a result.
