Harley have applied for three new Trademark names in line of their promise to launch 100 new models in 10yrs.  They are 48x , Pan America and Bronx.  Let your fertile minds go here gents as to what these may mean. My 2c is thinking the 48x may well be a adventure bike.......

They desperately need something new in the mid-sized range.  48x I suspect will be a revamped Sportster 48.  But what they really need is something to tackle the Triumph Bobber and the Indian Scout.  Both those bikes cost as much as a Sportster 1200 but have far superior engines.  Being a fan of bikes in that range, if I ever bought another bike it would be an Indian Scout, it's a far superior bike for the same money as a 1200 Sportster.
Apparently Triumph have had a big hit with the Bonneville Bobber, it's the best selling new model in their history:

The Indian Scout has also sold very well and wins in every head to head review with the Sportster that I've read.

With Triumph and Indian scoring goals like that Halrey is in trouble in that space

My guess is that the 48x will be a 48 styled Revolution X engine (750cc) custom bike.
They're looking to attract new riders and they've got a learner 500 and a 'sporty' 750, it makes sense that they'd do a custom style 750.

The Pan american?  It's already been said, but a tribute bike to the old panheads seems like a reasonable guess, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a variation on the Road King (they've already released one custom version of that).

The Bronx?  Maybe a city custom to compete with the Triumph bobber?  Something based on the new soft tail frame?

That'd give them one new bike in each model series.

I see what you blokes are saying but would any replacement for the Sporty/48 etc be made in India or the US? Sure, ppl will say ‘the parts are from China’ however go and look at the build between a 103/M8 and a Street. It works for learners/LAMS as it’s built to a price point.
IF they go India for the new ones, the price would go down but it wouldn’t be the same bike, if ya know what I’m saying.

I hope a credible made-in-the US XR1200’ish bike comes from all this. The market is ready, if they don’t skimp on the quality IMO.

Sadly for some of you its the opposite.......Word came in this morning that Harley-Davidson Australia will drop the affordable Iron 883 and 1200 models from their line-ups. The Harley-Davidson 48, a much heralded and popular model when released a little over a decade ago at just over 16k ride-away, has seen some of that sheen wane over time and the 48 is also being dropped from the Australian and New-Zealand model line-ups. The Street 500 is also being removed from the Australian line-up due to not meeting our local registration requirements in regards to ABS. Reasons are varied  In fact, Harley is the only brand to have recorded a sales decline in the first quarter of 2021, while the likes of Honda are up almost 50 per cent, and Indian’s sales are up by almost 60 per cent.

For some reason I thought HD was dropping the Street and Sporty from all markets.
As for sales, well yeah, I know you’ll have the stats Pauly. Isn’t the general growth in Adventure bikes and for some the new PanAmerica has the wrong badge, and untested. They gotta get a result in the something like the Dakar (hey, they run Hummers) so why not a great lumping Yankee bike !
I don’t think my next bike will be a Harley.
As we older riders get even older, a bit of extra realestate in the seat department, especially for two up, is bloody nice. The Indian Springfields etc are great in that dept and the’re well engineered.

Absolutely RB agree totally. Have said way back that the Indian equivalent to Harley is a better bike, looks being the only subjective part.
I am waiting for the new 2021 Guzzi v85tt travel....that may well be my next addition, unless of course my dream CBX surfaces.

Ha Ha your hard to trick FC....just trying to show that rather than keep adding a new topic that has possibly been debated before we can keep rolling in the similar vein.
