Cobra 3" RPT Mufflers quiet baffles review

I thought I'd put up some info on my experience with the Cobra 3" RPT mufflers and the related quiet baffles. I got these mufflers to do the stage 1 upgrade on my bike. After a couple of road trips with them on, I took them off because they're just too loud. The standard baffles are so loud even with ear plugs in I found them annoying on road trips.
Cobra offer a quiet baffle for these mufflers, part number is: 9026. Unlike V&H mufflers, there's not much info out there on the quiet baffles, I had to contact Cobra to get the part number. The quiet baffles are a drop in replacement for the standard set and come wrapped in new fiberglass wrap.
The quiet baffles have a significantly smaller inner diameter than the standard baffles. See pics below. The difference in sound with the quiet baffles is not huge, but they do reduce the noise enough so they're bearable. The sound is also deeper than the standard baffles. Overall the sound with the quiet baffles is much better. It's not so annoying that you're ears are ringing after a few hours, but still loud enough to give a nice sound. I suspect that performance is also better as the diameter of the standard baffles is ridiculously large, they're basically drag pipes. In comparison, the quiet baffles would give a decent amount of back pressure.

Nice review KC,
I had a similar problem with my TAB Exhausts, went from 2" Baffles to 1 3/4" Baffles, deeper note, less a cop magnet, plus no more ear plugs.
The Guys that run their HD's with excessive Exhaust noise just make it harder for the rest of us.
I don't suppose anyone on here knows where you can purchase the Exhaust matting, from over the counter (Victoria)?

Would you know how these compare to Screaming Eagles? I don't know which version of SE slips ons I have, but I woudln't mind to get a bit more deeper rumble. Its nice and quite right now but I also think too quite, you won't hear my cans sitting inside a car with windows up beside me on a freeway. :\
However I don't want pipes like Short Shots where I lose performance, plus get the annoying sound which will tire me early during long rides.

Hi guys. I’m very new to the bike world but I’ve been stalking away for a few weeks and I’ve seen it mentioned a few times that open / straight thru pipes give you a performance drop. Mine are straight thru, so I’m curious as to how many horses I would have sacrificed for the thunder?
Cheers Mick

Dirt bike shops always have it, about $16 for a huge bundle.
Ps, wear gloves! Horrible shit!!
