Hi everyone.   Just joined the forum today.    Have visited the forum several times before but never registered as I didn't own a Harley.   But now I do.    My riding originally goes back years on trail bikes and going bush with mates.   But as we all got married and then kids,   we all stopped riding and the years went by.   After 8 years the itch to ride again got bad so had to buy a bike.   Spent the last 2 1/2 years on a Yamaha Virago 1100,   great little bike.    But I wanted to move onto a Harley,   test rode several models and eventually decided on the new Fatboy.   Absolutely love it.   Just need to get it louder and trying to decide on the best option at the moment.   Any suggestions would be great.   I want to go 2 into 2 exhaust only.    Anyway,   all the best and Merry Christmas to you all.     Stewart.

Hi everyone.   Thanks for the comments and the welcome.   Looking forward to chatting and swapping information on all things Harley.    I'm no Harley expert but if you have any questions relating to the new Fatty,   I'm happy to give some advise based on my experience so far.

Binnsy I'm loving the new bike.   Its not 100% smooth,  there is a little bit of vibration but I'm happy with that after all it is a Harley.   Its not as nimble as a dyna but still very easy to ride.   And powerful too.   I'm 5 foot 10 and find it really comfortable.   The Virago I had prior had mid controls as standard and felt a bit cramped but on the Fatty with the floor boards I can stretch out a bit more and the handlebars are in a good spot as they are.   I'm still running it in and due to work commitments I haven't been able to go out on a long ride yet,  hopefully next weekend.

    Hey Stew, Welcome.

Your story is similar to mine.  Sixteen years off a bike while family life took priority, got a licence again straight onto a Virago 1100 for seven years, then onto a 1200 Sporty for nine, had the '03 Dyna now for nearly three years.

    Enjoy. Roo.

Very nice fatty mate, i almost bought a 18 model but decided to go a new 17 instead. Just preferred the older shape. Wife just picked up a 18 Fat bob and it goes like a cut cat, the M8 is a good motor.
Have you had a look at the Freedom Performance radicals? I seen and heard a set at my local dealer last week so i placed an order and should be here this friday. Made the M8 motor sound really good.

The new fatty’s are a great looking bike imo, although it’s looks appear to have divided the icon’s admirers. I rode a 114 a couple of weeks ago, and had a ball on it. The new chassis and this amazing 114 motor, gave a whole different riding experience compared to the ‘15 model I owned. Had a ball through the Adelaide hills, although that huge back tyre takes some work through the twisties! Do agree with Binnsy, though. Had a numb arse by the time I got back! Would be interesting, from a cosmetic point of view, replacing the original mufflers with slip ons, because most after market mufflers would be either chrome or black, which would look a bit weird with the brushed aluminium effect header pipes installed originally. Wished they’d kept it all chrome. Reckon they would have sold a lot more if they’d stuck with the shiny stuff! Time will tell if this model becomes as popular as its predecessors.Still a tough looking bike, and my fave in the ‘18 lineup.

Hi Stewart, if you want to get loud, go with Vance & Hines Short Shots. I have them on my Slim.
