not at the moment, but could go back and get some.. tank looks better than youd expect. orange and white . motor looks clean, rear guard lookes like its been repaired but not painted, hand controls look to new. We only saw it through a broken window, and its partially covered and surrounded by other stuff. half a days work to even get to it .. We did find the owner. i think hes past riding. he did say a price, and i said no thanks. apparently there are lots of new parts.
question is whats a fairly tidy barn find shovel worth. im guessing it hasnt started for many years

Without a pic and some details on the condition/originality its all just guessing, but one things for sure a genny is way more valuable than a cone,

This pic may give you something to go on, a gorgeous '69 FLH in Jetfire Orange, if it's anything near original it should look like the pic , but '69ers didn't have white on the tank, other than a thin stripe,
I wish I had one of these in my shed,

Did not mean to sound like a smartarse^^^^. Shit, that aint the christmas spirit.
Just seems the owner knows the value and wants to get top dollar.

was susspect the tank paint wasnt original its too good.. and i think the hand controls are much newer than the bike. will have to go back and get some pics of what we can see. it isnt going anywhere in a hurry.
no offence taken we both laughed

Well cripes! you never know. Maybe it is a legit barn find.
Hard enough these days to find a barn, let alone one with a desireable old bike in it.
Good luck with it.

Gday and merry chrissy to all.
For what it's worth I came across a barn find 1981 FXEF Superglide shovel about 3 years ago. Hadn't really been cared for, I think it had fuel poured in and started up once in a while. Good bones just needed tlc. We went back and forward and settled on $5,700 I think. Rode it home with barely any brakes, no blinkers, h/light. Electrics, brakes, paint, tyres etc were stuffed.
Been through it from front to back with lots of new stuff. Love riding it. Lots of compliments.

Nice looking shovel mate, well done.
Gee! the original air filter looks to be the size of a saddlebag.
How many ks on it when you bought it?

About 41,000klm but the speedo didn't work and may not have for some time. Just recently I had the lower skirt replaced on the seat and the guy reckons the bike has about 60k + on it (the seat).
I've put about 9,000 on it since owning it.

Nice find at a great price,
Doesn't matter how stuffed the original paint is, it's always worth keeping, it's only original once,
I wish that 2 into 1 exhaust were mine,
My '80 fxef has a lot of paint fade, and it's gonna stay that way,
looks great from the lhs
rhs must have been facing the sun

got some photos.. they are not great pics because of where its stuck. paint isnt original, looks like someone started a rebuild. apparently all parts are in there.

So how much did he want for it?

A project like that would be worth between 4 or 5 grand

It's worth what the motor is worth, looks like the rest of the bike is shit, looks like some kind of after market front end ?, ducktail rear mudguard, late model switches, disc brake, what were they thinking, yeh $5k, problem as is always sellers hear that '69ers sell for $20k, and therefore they think theirs is worth same,
