Hey guys..

I have been seeing a heap of videos being posted to Instagram and FB with mostly rods but other Harleys doing skids for weddings or other events..

don't get me wrong I love a good skid , but I also know there is a time and place for it and a busy street with people and kids plus other road users isn't the time..

because of these small group of blokes now the cops have been cracking down on bikes in the area big time...

I use to be able to pull up next to a cop loud straight pipes with my 18" apes and they wouldn't even blink an eye lid.. now blokes with SLIP ONs and 12" apes are getting pulled over and bikes inspected ... its getting so bad now that a lot of mates are selling there bikes cause its just not worth the risk loosing there registration over it...

is any other state having the same issues ???

i got sent a video last night from a group of blokes in Ballarat out the front of a pub doing burnouts in cars and bikes was a complete bush fire ... other road users couldn't continue on the road cause of these clowns... in the video you could clearly see number plates / blokes riding doing burnouts without helmets on while others running around like kids holding onto bottles of piss...

as I said I love a great burnout but its making it hard for the rest of us..

 

Here in Adelaide, I think the cops are less interested in defecting and stopping you in general.  In the 80's and 90's I used to get stopped a lot more.  It all depends on how much attention you attract.  My last four bikes have all been over the limit in terms of noise and I've been past plenty of cops and never got stopped.

Haven’t seen anything circa ACT but to be fair, if blokes cause issues and members of the public complain or put up videos etc to FB, coppers will be told to do something about it. Hopefully the ‘crack down’ won’t last long, people pull their heads in, coppers get to do other things and equilibrium is restored.

Got pulled over just last week on the Logan motorway here in Brisbane by 2 motorcycle cops. I'm thinking here goes, pipes to loud and bars to high and the usual license and rego check bullshit. But nope, they just wanted to have a better look at the bike. Turned out to be actually rather friendly and seemed like decent blokes. Even let one of the coppers sit on the bike so his mate could take a photo. Tried to convince one to swap bikes for a few k's but he declined saying he would get his arse kicked if his boss found out. Nice to know there is still some decent cops out there.

^^^ that's mad... I know a really good HARD but FAR Hwy copper in my local area... he has pulled me over several times to order parts for his work trucks .. (owns his own trucking company on the side)..

its put a lot of riders down here on edge.. ive know this past month 14 blokes get pulled up and defected .. even a stock HD with 120ks on the clock because he took the reflectors off...

the bikes haven't been out of the metro area and done more than 30km's in a single stint.

Back when I had really loud pipes if I got pulled over I quickly switched off the engine and only started it after they walk away, preferably after they drive away - drop your gloves, scratch your nuts, whatever. 
Also if I knew there was a noise camera or the cops were driving past with he windows down I'd clutch in and roll by.
I never got done, but friends were pinged all the time.

True just a shame a few have stuffed it for the rest of us 

They haven't been too bad here in NZ in the last year I've been pulled over twice for traffic offences (1 speeding, 1 passing on medium strip) both times I never had a WOF displayed (road worthy in your part of the world) as the holder had broken off, it seems they just check the license plate on the computer, there is plenty of loud pipes and huge apes getting about and every second bike seems to be a V-rod

I’m looking at purchasing a HD very soon .. it’s stories like this which make me want to get another bike , I don’t want to spend all that money and can’t use it

Never had an issue in 18 years, pulled over once so they could have a look & a listen. But then I don't normally do a burnout on the street with the facebook crown live streaming me. I still have fun just not in full view of the crowd. Tassie cops are still fairly relaxed about the HD scene.

I suppose it's got a lot to do with what you're doing, who you're riding with and how you ride. Ive been riding since I could get a licence at 18 and I'm 63 this year. I've always owned a bike and have had a heap of different bikes over the years including 3 Harleys. I've never been pulled over while riding, for anything, except a few RBT's over the years.  Even being pulled into the RBT station on my last Fatboy with loud pipes I thought something would be said, but nothing.
