Hi folks I thought I'd post this up in regards to the Slim, as it will be my first Harley. Why I've chosen it is simple really, because it's just so OLD SKOOL KOOL, but before buying one I'd like to ask a few questions in regards to mods and get other riders opinions about this particular bike.
What I'd like to know is are they a long haul bike or can they be turned into one? Also will it be to cramped for my 6ft frame? I'm sure it would be a great weekend warrior, but it going the distance that concerns me.

Lots of blokes riding softies over six feet tall. Are fine for touring. As mentioned a comfy seat helps. Saddlebags too and a windshield if you like

I am 6' 3" tall, I did a 2,200 km 3 day trip quite comfortably on my Slim S. I did have a Mustang Day Tripper seat, 12" Mini Apes and a screen though.

I had a little bag strapped to my rear rack, and used that as a back rest.

    I loved it.

    MuscleBob,
smokey is right ..Any Hog will take you where you want to go.
Many years ago, I knew a guy who worked/lived in Adelaide S.A, but had a girlfriend in Ballarat Vic.. He commuted on a Honda 100cc every weekend to see her. He is till married to her after 45 years. Imagine that ride.
So with a Harley, the world is the limit.

How hard is the Slim for servicing? I normally do my own services on my bike. New oil every 6k and plugs every 12k.
