SE Super Tuner Pro tuning

guys, recently purchased the above tuner. Bikes a 2017 SGS, totally stock at the moment, a couple of questions:
    a) when I marry the VCI to the bike it will lock to that bikes ECM and copy the stock map - correct?
b)will the software prompt me to save that map onto my PC, or is it saved onto the VCI?
    c) can I make a copy of the stock map and modify/smart tune?
    d) this should leave the stock map saved to revert back to if required?

reasons being, I am not totally happy with the idle - bit low and stumbles slightly - it has not stalled or given other problems, but I am aware of a minor map change some dealers have done in the US to raise the idle speed from 850 - 950rpm's, yes I could probably get my dealer to look at it but I'm keen to have a fiddle. I have seen on the FuelMoto site, the guys have a stock improved map available for PV users, so figure I could at least improve mine slightly doing enough data runs.
I plan on getting slip ons in the new year - swaying towards Rinehart 4" slip ons and will load the stage 1 map then most likely, or if I have already done enough smart tune runs, may just continue the process with the (hopefully) improved stock map. Later on as finances (read wife) allow, go to a hi flow breather. I like the look of the ventilator, but may go the newly released round hi flow SE air filter and will def. load the stage 1 map then and smart tune again etc.

Does this all make sense and seem logical? Happy to be corrected.

Super tuner Pro is a one way gig. Your "stock map" is not saved.

It is the current last loaded map that is held in the VCI ( the Orange box !)

It will "marry" the ECM first time it's connected up even if you don't load up a new calibration ( better name for a MAP)

In the US dealers can download a modified calibration to any bike , but all are EPA compliant , ie , not "Race Tuned"

Not as far as I am aware.

Now you can do this with TTS , it was originally an "option" , and more recently "compulsory" or the programme would not advance to reflash.

If you can "save' the original stock OEM calibration with Supertuner pro I have never done it OR seen it done

thanks for the replies Retroman and Badcooky, yeah I read almost all of that 343 page thread Badcooky - fell asleep a few times. I did see my same question asked but never answered unfortunately.
It probably seems a bit unusual what I want to do, but haven't got the funds to do pipes and a/c together just yet and figured I would bump up the idle speed and do a few smart tune runs on the standard calibration to get used to using the tuner and see if I get any improvement.

    thanks again gents

Hilly, thanks for the reply mate. The only real reasoning behind saving the stock cal is I won't be getting pipes or a/c for a while most likely and just wanted the opportunity to play with the smart tune feature and see if I could improve it, thinking the stage 1 cal is probably too much?? I agree even the stock bike cal could be improved, but I won't be dynoing the bike any time soon mate, so short of that I believe my only option going forward are the SE cals on the software.

thanks for all the replies guys, and Fikmik - thanks for the offer of the pipe loan mate. Have learnt a bit more from the guys who are more experienced with these tuners - appreciated.
Hilly, I planned on loading the stage 1 cal into the bike eventually so will go there sooner I suppose based on what you guys have told me - hey that's why I asked :)

    thanks all
