    HI,

I am looking for advice and if others have had similar problem.

I have a 2016 fxfd fat bob 12 months old with 15000km. at 14000km I had the 110 stage 3 kit installed which has 12months warranty, after breaking bike in per the technicians instructions I had the service done after 1000kms. at this stage there was no oil loss before the service. The following 3 rides a ticking noise was coming from the engine after the 3rd ride it was a lot louder I checked the oil level to find there was no oil on the dipstick, at this stage I called central coast Harley they came and picked the bike up. a week later they said they topped the oil up and rode the bike all good to go. I insisted it be looked in to for damage. after insisting I was told the crank is not true most likely out from factory and will be covered under warranty but the new stage kit has a scor in the cylinder and they are saying due to bike abuse and I lost 1 litre of oil in 3 rides due to this score, Central coast Harley are saying rider I abuse where I believe it was not filled correctly at service and that's why it has scored the cylinder. currently going through fair trading for advice.

my last twin cam, I got l a cycles at hoxston park to up grade to 95 cubic inch, they did head work fitted gear drive cams, it was a carb model but still basically what you have just smaller less cubic inch. well from day one I was runing 11 second quarter mile times the rpm through speed trap was 7,200rpm I was in 4th gear and best trap speed was 121mph road that bike close to 100,000k friend now owns it will still run low 11's.
thing is l a cycles are a high performance engine builder.  a Harley dealer does not need to know anything about high performance engine building or tuning. all they need to know is how to sell new bikes.

I feel for you!! just a few points, I always check my oil leavel before I ride. like every time I leave home on a bike, I check fuel too. check tyre pressure.
also l a cycles do all there own in house machining, they use sunnen honing stones to resize, unless they need to take a lot out of the bore. I have watched them clean the cylinders before assemble they are fanatical cleaners. they double check clearances. I never needed to top up motor between oil changes even raving to 7,200 regular. the twin cam oil pump seems to scavenge well!
anyone who tell's you to run a motor in , needs to give a reason. like if l a cycles asked you to run it in for say 1 or 2 thousand k, it would be as they set minimum clearance for long life quite runing, but when they do mine its built as a race motor even though I ride on street.

take yours back ask what piston to cylinder clearance on assembly.

Thanks for the info krash, I ride my bike everyday so usually check the oil every week this was only 3rd ride in but ill be checking after every service now. I will be taking your advice and going to a reputable performance mechanic for now, unfortunately I was a believer if I buy the bike there have all services and work there they would honour there warranty but obviously not. hopefully fair trading gets back to me with some good news.

I was never seeing any real performance gains out of my kit as it probably wasn't installed correctly and turned right, hopefully when this matter is done with, I will have a bike as reliable as yours was

Lukefat. I have personally not had any issues with cchd. But a mate bought a new 2017 wideglide from them early this year. When picked up. We got it home. Tyre presures were 40% down. The bar clamps loose.
Try getting an email to Chris Watson himself as he is the owner of cchd.

hi steamer ive heard lots of that stuff happening from CCHD the more I talk to people about my problem, sounds like they need to pick there game up there.

fair trading are currently trying to mediate with him about it at the moment I believe. the service manager has talked to him on my behalf and he doesn't want to help out which is upsetting seeing I bought the bike there and had all service work and parts purchased and done there so far and got all my mates to buy bikes from them, then find out they don't want to warrant there mechanics work or products

I feel despair for you LF.  I'm not a big fan of chasing power but I just can't believe you'd buy a new bike from a HD dealer, get a performance upgrade on it and them not back it when it falls over after only a thousand k's. Are you saying Fair Trading AND the dealerships own service manager are going in to bat for you but the business owner is not coming to the party? I'm very sorry to hear.
Looks like you may have only one court left. The court of public opinion
