I seriously don’t know what to buy
    I currently own a 73 norton commando a 1971 flh
And a 2017 Softail slim so I am old school
    I am 53 yo 185 cm and 100kg

Ok this is where I need help I cannot deside between
Street glide and a road king
And then between street glide special or the standard
The road king special does not interest me .
Majority of riding will be 200 Kim day trips 50% 2 up and looking to do a 3000 Kim trip over a couple of weeks
    I will trade the slim
Do I go the new 4 valve engine or save some money and get a twin cam
I should add I am not new to this and should be able to decide but I really cannot
I like the look of the king and like the removable screen
But the dealer tells me the glide is a better bike
    Really and how so
    Any opinions much appreciated

I own a Street Glide and have done plenty of klm on its bigger brother Ulta , for me its a Street Glide but best bet is to ride both Street Glide and Road King back to back, Road Glide rides different again

Street Glide fairing with a taller screen offers great protection. Music on the Streety is good. Ride both .

Depending on your height you can get a very low screen all the way up to a Ultra screen with plenty of choices in between those, very changeable. I personally did not like the comfort of the std seat so run the thick std ultra seat and have done many 1000klm days back to back. Others love the std seat. Settle on your seat first as they can either raise or lower you on the bike then experiment on the screen

Since you already have a slim I'd definitely go for the streetglide with the fairing and its creature comforts

Go the SG, that fairing is an absolute bonus. I have an FLHT and simply use a 4" screen in the hot months. Anything is gunna be hot to ride on a 36 degree day. I have an unfaired bike, a sportster, as well. For touring you can't beat the batwing, it's good shit.

Well I am leaning towards the street glide  now do I go special or standard and what’s the difference between the 2 is it just the blacked out look and the stretched bags or are there other differences

If ya wanna do decent Km’s, the SG would surely be the better pick. And anything with the word ‘Special’ is always worth paying for. Of course.

I’ve owned both and prefere the RK and is what I own now.
For me the steering and bike feels lighter, more nimble and looks better imo.
However in saying that my streetglide was older and from all reports they have improved and are a great bike.

Well thanks for the input guys
I think I am going street glide
    Now the next question
Special in black and blacked out
Or standard in blue and black celebrating 115 years
Don’t care about the 115 years just like the colour difference as I understand
Flat black dash on standard spec has gloss
    Special has stretched bags
Standard has 16 inch rear wheel special has 18!inch
    Smaller speakers in standard
Any one know any thing else or point me where to look USA sites are not relivent

I went the other way, after 2 x Street Glides (2014 & 2016), and a 2016 CVO StreetGlide, I am now on a 2017 RoadKing and love it.

Want to go touring? 10 seconds slip on a screen. Hot day riding locally ?, 10 seconds, take off the screen.

Better rear shock (1" longer) = better bump comfort.

And that massive headlight and spot lamps, very nostalgic.

    Regards Lofty

A very good choice young man.

But, after having a sound system on my bike, I find the only time I use it is in the shed listening to music, or more often the footy at night.

    Enjoy your ride.
