    picked this off PSB forum....  my only wish is it were not true.. anyone heard anything?

    ================================================================

    Well it seems they really want our money
    Must be too many people giving up smoking & drinking where tax $ have been big in the past

    Well, they've gone and done it. Down Under, in Australia, the state government of New South Wales have deployed fully automated noise cameras.

    The cameras have sensitive microphones attached to it, and a computer to analyze the noise. If your motorcycle exceeds a noise threshold, a film is taken of your motorcycle, the plate number analyzed, and a ticket sent automatically to you home. The system is equipped with a hard drive with a capacity of 10,000 tickets. Each ticket will have a 10 second video and audio clip, but the first time you can actually see and hear your motorcycle is in court.

    Too bad that they will not mail the video clip. It would be nice to have a video clip of you and your motorcycle....

    The states of South Australia and Victoria have begun similar programs.

    Motorcycles are not the only vehicles targeted. Trucks with noisy brakes, cars with loud subwoofers and even inappropriate honking your car horn will get you ticketed.

    Seems like a golden eldorado to me. How is a camera going to know if there are two motorcycles, one loud Harley and one very quite BMW, which of the two has a loud pipe?

    Ahhh... the things politicians dream off to get more money...

    they tell us that we have all these bloody speed cameras around to keep us all safe from the highly dangerous speeders & they're not for raising money so what are they going say about these cameras. how do they keep us safe from all the baddies whilst taking our money? bunch of fuck wits & what's worse is we let them do it to us by not opposing the laws. if the whole of australia opposed them bringing them in then they wouldn't as they would have no chance of getting back in on the next election. a few greenies hug a tree & save rain forests, a couple of cardigan wearing do gooders oppose to a building getting knocked down & it gets heritage listed so surely a massive group of road uses could get these cameras banned.

    Funny part is I can legally rev my 110DB whipper snipper at someones bedroom window at 7am legally. Yet ya cant ride a bike down a road a 92DB? Go figure.. Must be a real scientist who comes up with these ridiculous laws.. all come down to one word really
