De-rattling the Tourer

My (used) FLHRC just hit 20,000km so I decided to do a full mechanical detail. Chasing a few rattles I found two culprits. One was the cables rattling around inside the headlight nacelle (fixed with a few cable ties) and the other was the flogged out rear muffler mount rubbers. Worth a look.
I packed out the footboard pivots screws (the OEM setup is woeful). New Teflon bush and plastic pivot in the clutch lever, greased the clutch cable, adjusted the ramp pre-load and cable free-play. Removed and polished every brake and shifter lever and replaced all o'rings. Greased wheel bearings, changed brake fluids to 600C racing fluid.

Last job was to replace the spacer rings between the top of each fork leg and the top triple to sharpen up the steering precision.

The bike is as tight as a new one now, not a single noise over rough roads for a total spend of $30.

Just a heads-up at what to look for lads.

    Cheers.
