Thanks gents for the info ... and apologies again for wrong info .

Everything has been flashed and ready to go Wednesday for the Harley Days Trip ... still have to experiment with headset settings ... I reckon the Vox was set too sensitive as the Voice activated intercom was activating and cutting in and out while music was playing all the time riding along when no one was saying anything ... I figured the wind or possibly even the pipes was setting it off .

Turned intercom off and when got home worked out where the Vox settings are as well as some other settings and adjusted them all ... will check tomorrow and see if there is any difference .

I must admit before they flashed the boom box and headsets I thought the headsets by themselves were nice and easy to use and understand ... I would prefer the PTT push to talk function but mine doesn't seem to have it , at least it isn`t where the pic shows on right handle bar controls .

All part of the learning curve .

Tim, I think you'll find the PTT button on the RH controls is for a CB if fitted - you need to buy the controls with that button for a RG or SG mate and all the CB gear.
The voice command button should be the one on the LH control - opposite end of the indicator switch - HTH

Thanks Doc , did see that little symbol on left side , and wondered what it was for ... There's so much stuff to read in the infotainment manual I end up missing important stuff .
So I will experiment of course and one thing I have done is turn down the sensitivity of the Vox settings as the intercom was activating all the time cutting in and out the music due to the wind I believe ... Seems better but still would rather activate intercom manually .

Can you turn off Voice commands and use that button on left side when wanting to use intercom or have I got that wrong ... I would love to turn off Voice commands and use the Headsets themselves , just tap the Jog button and start talking , is that possible to do you think .

Don't get me wrong I still like some of the other functions of the infotainment system like how I can scroll through the song list and of course the GPS and so on , just not keen on the Voice activating intercom part ... Maybe when I get used to it I will understand it better .

    Cheers .

Well the new bike is ready on Saturday and I have had the WHIM fitted . I was given a genuine headset as a gift. When we talk about getting things flashed does that mean I have to take the headset to the dealers and have it flashed to the WHIM ? Maybe a silly question for some but not to me. Thanks for all the good information on this thread. Especially China Bull

TJU, I preferred using the PTT button also.
The voice command button is for only swearing at the boombox system and not for communicating between rider and passenger.
The only option now is by way of the auto vox control. The manual talk control has been removed as said previously.

That's  my understanding anyway. I could be wrong but I  haven't finnished reading up on the Boombox bilble.

I'm still using the standard wired set you get with the bike which is a pain in the arse.
Harley should of sorted this out at the beginning when the Boombox system was released.

Thanks for the feedback Groover ... Haven't even scratched the surface of the manual yet but I think you are correct , there is no manual talk button feature which is a absolute pain ... Only that stupid voice activated feature which is useless anything above 70 to 80 K's , well at least on my system .
Only had the boom box flashed on Monday and we headed down to Harley Days Wednesday morning , nice little 1100 K ride , except for taking the wrong turn off and having to deal with Sydney traffic and crazy road system , Lol ... Down here now hoping it doesn't bucket down on us .

One interesting thing , Both Gasoline and Wackers said Headsets had to be updated as well ... Not sure why , will delve into it when I get back .

The Vox is super sensitive ... The only way I got round it for now was to leave screen on the Vox page and totally turn it off to the negative side as it would keep cutting in and out , very annoying ... When I wanted to say something I would slow down to under 80 , toggle the Vox settings back up a couple of notches and have a yap ... Not the most convenient way to chat and still very loud from the wind every time the Vox channel would open ... I thought this new system had a noise reduction feature built in .

I had the Headsets on briefly before getting the whole WHIM setup and Software updates and they worked heaps better ... I have a lot more to experiment with but it has been disappointing to say the least .

The GPS works , sort of ... Put in Fraser's Wollongong dealership from where I took the wrong turn off and the map worked fine but the Voice commands were so faint , very hard to hear ... Thinking that may be a settings issue .

Oh well hopefully going to be a dry and enjoyable few days then taking a slightly longer way home before heading back to work .

As always if anyone has any idea's just hit the reply button ... Cheers .

Wasn't sure if the Headsets would override the WHIM but will definitely give it a try ... Thanks China .

Well unfortunately the Headsets don't work when you tap them after the bike is started , the WHIM takes over and is so much worse than the Headsets by themselves .
Was told today that I can go on the Sena app and deactivate the Voice commands ... Will suss that out when we get home .

Now I just have to get through the next couple of days dealing with Sydney traffic and make it home in one piece and I will be a happy man , Lol.

Had it confirmed by OfficIal Harley Tech at Harley Days that you do indeed have to have headsets updated with latest software to go with the software upgrades to the Boom Box .
I would suggest that if you haven't done this and your system is working fine then don't upgrade because if mine has been done ... Which I have to confirm when I get back home ... Then it doesn't work real well ... Pretty dissatisfied to be honest .

And yes I have tried heaps of different settings ... Vox , up /down ... Volume , up/ down ... Volume speed levels , up /down ... Made sure the little mouthpieces were facing the right way , apparently they have to go a certain way ...

Anyhow at well over a $1000 for Headsets and Module and Harness and fitting ... For me at least it has not been a very good experience or investment ... We live and learn I suppose .

China , I reckon the moulded in ear ear plugs are probably the way to go as you are not going to get the wind going between your ears and the in helmet speakers .
Do you plug yours into your Sena headsets every time you put your helmet on or do you have them set up differently .

Chinashop bull and others . I picked up the new bike and Wackers had paired the one headset that I had and all worked ok except the radio. I was listening to the radio yesterday and it kept cutting in and out. On for a few minutes then off for a few seconds. Is this  just my passion fingers or is it something simple like whacking the jog dial  . It is nice to be wireless after all this time.I think i was involved in a similar thread in 2014.
I pretty much ride alone but was thinking of getting a Sena20S for the odd times I take a pillion and that would not matter all that much if the music was not stereo. Will the Sena20S work with the WHIM and  integrate with the infotainment center. Should i stop being stingy and spring for the genuine Harley headset?

Yes the Trike is wider than the old Ultra Limited and i will have it repaired soon . I think the M8 motor is pretty special with only stage 1 for the moment and it seems like enough for the time being .Thanks again to all it has been a great help and a bit of fun.

Gidday Stropp ... Not much help here sorry ... The guys at Gasoline sorted mine and I didn't pay enough attention at the time but do remember them having to punch in some numbers to get it working .
I would say I have had a 50 / 50 love hate relationship with the whole system and to be fair part of the issue lies with me and my lack of technical skills in these areas .

Noise can be annoying but is more of the wrong helmet I have I believe ... Other times I wouldn't be without it , have perfected making and taking calls which comes in handy at times .

Biggest problem lately is the Bluetooth , sometimes works first time , other times I have to stuff around for a few minutes to get it to recognise my music ... Could be the phone fault but still battling this one .

For me the Sena headsets worked fine by themselves ... Only ever used the GPS once so if I had my time over I would have just gone the headsets and saved my money and not got the WHIM ... But others probably have had better experience and hindsight is a wonderful thing , Lol .

Sorry for the ramble and not being much help .
