Just putting it out there, who has stage 1 and experiencing oil blowing out from the air cleaner?
    What filter have you got?
    How often does this happen?
Have you solved it? and if so how?
I have stage 1 and 2 with K&N filter and seem to get this oil blow out every 800 or so klm's. Told by dealer I just need to be more regular with my maintenance.

    Cheers

Funny thing is that at 18,450klm Harley Sydney authorized the replacement of my cylinders, pistons and rings in an attempt to stop this problem but now are saying the problem does not exist and I just need to do more regular service on the air cleaner. If I have to pull the air cleaner apart every 800 klm or so I might have to have a rethink about keeping the Road King.
Especially when the oil line to the oil cooler let go the other day after being checked with the recall notice and given the all clear.

For anyone who didn't see my previous thread on this topic, here is a pic of what it looks like when you pull the air cleaner apart after just 1,000klm's.

Mate, I'm not trying to be a dick, my 08 FLHT has its air cleaner cleaned and checked by me at every oil change, 5,000 kms. It has just rolled past the 100,000 km mark and honestly it looks nothing like that. I also run the s/e air cleaner with the breathers you have and I have nowhere near the mess you do in that photo.
As a mug punter I would have to say that something is definitely amiss with your motor......or you have too much oil in it, like a previous post said, try running it at 3/4 of the way up the stick when warm and on the side stand......or you're really caning the shit out of it, which will have the same effect.

what's your riding style JR? Upping the rpm has been said to help, as does a heavy breather. Running it half a quart low from hot full often stops it too. Syringe can remove a bit.

I would go with china`s advise and try to get a happy medium with the level ,mine is about the three quarters, just under the hot on jiffy stand mark.that would still be 3 liters of oil being that it  takes 3.79 for my Roadking  Prior to that I was considering External breathers . In your pic of filter backing redirect the two breather  hoses that blow oil into throttle body away to the outside there are a number of ways this can be done. Its hard to understand all of the major work the dealer is claiming to be done i would be making little marks on bolts to see if in fact its being done  but thats me , I trust no one .good luck mate

for as long as can remember, when you get oil out breather on a dry sump Harley, a lot think it's wet sumping. but most of time it's caused by piston and rings not sealing, for one reason or another. Harley have improved oil scavenging over the years so I'm sure the mate would have that in order. I have not seen a Harley dealer that had a machine shop. just because they put new barrels and rings and pistons, does not mean the cylinders and rings have a good seal. if a bad seal just causes the motor to breath heavy and oil out breather hose when you rev. so good your getting it machined . I think only positive way after doing a few k's after rebuild , is to have a leak down test, this tell's you if valves sealing 100per cent, if rings cylinders sealing 100per cent.

    1. My style air cleaner. 2. Inside, you can see a bit of oil and that is after 5,000 kms. 3. The air cleaner looking at the inside, again, a little bit of oil, but not a great deal. My motor has 101,000 kms on it. Hope things work out for ya.

Well after 6 weeks in the shop (9 in total) I have the bike back with its second set of cylinders, pistons and rings. this time however they replaced the oil pump with the one mentioned in the service bulletin for the sumping issue.
fingers crossed the problem is sorted at last.

Stage 2 with SE Heavy breather. My bike maintains oil level at the F mark full when hot and suffers no oil blowback in the filter. Doesn’t use any oil discernible on the dipstick between services either.
