Thanks Brash.
I have watched a bloody heap already, and I have seen both of those guy, the JP guys ones are very informative, as are Shane's.
Just been looking at the re-fitting the oil pump and how the centre the pump internals, pretty simple if you know how, but I can see how people cock it up if they don't know to turn the engine over while nipping the bolts up.
And that was something the JP guy doesn't do, maybe because he didn't have the pump apart, not sure why, but Shane does, and makes a point to say too strip and inspect the pump internals.
I have to go through service manual again, I'm pretty confident that it should be a pretty straight forward job.
Time will tell I guess :)
I didn't get the work table done today, but I did get the lifters from the shop :)
Cams were send today, so may show up on Friday, but I'm thinking Monday next week, fingers crossed.
I'll try and take some photos when I'm doing the job if you guys think it would be of interest to others contemplating doing their own camshaft, what do you think, worth doing ?
Cheers
Good O :)
Good workshop practice that Daggs :)
I hate to tell ya's I'm one of those blokes who can throw it all into ice-cream containers and put it back together again.
If it was going to be apart for months then maybe baggies and labels., though I never did that on my Z900 rebuild, and that was a down to a bare frame, and took 6 months.
Bloody hell I just lost all what I just typed out. Wish you could cut and paste in this forum sometimes.
Had a long hot day in the shed today, big cleanout on one 1/2, pulled crap out, swept and then hosed out all the dust and crap from grinding and cutting steel, and sanding wood etc.
Moved my big heavy bloody workbench over to its new position, as well as a big worktable and other shit.
Relocated some of my wall and free standing racking.
Humped all the crap from on the lawn back into the shed, some I have put away, but I have a few boxes that I want to sort out, electrical shit, nuts and bolts, washers, screws, nails etc etc.
But I made a lot of free floor-space, easily enough for a good side ride-on work platform.
Hopefully I'll get a start on that tomorrow arvo, after I finish of the middle bit of the shed I still have to clean up and move the temporary trestle bench I had there.
I did however change out the closed cap for the open on the Supertrapp, I think she was pretty bloody chocked off, no wonder she was so quite, she sounds like a Harley again.
The other good news is the cams showed up this morning, at 9am !!! I was gobsmacked I thought maybe Friday, but probably Monday.
So I may get a start on the cam job by late Sunday, but I'm thinking Monday or Tuesday probably, as much as I want to get them in, I have to get the shed cleaned and sorted before I do open chest surgery in there :)
