Rear shocks for 15 Ultra.

I know this topic has been done to death but can you dudes that ride Ultras give me an idea of what shocks to use. I ride all sorts of roads and do long miles mostly 2 up with the bike right up on its max GVM. Looking for comfort and a shock that won't bottom out too often. Looking to spend less than a 1000 big ones. I've narrowed it down to a few different types. Progressive Air 416, YSS, Ikon and even tossing up putting Monroe Air shocks made for cars.
Just looking for up to date opinions on recent experiences.
Thanks

Tou can get Ohlins for a grand. The longer the shock you can use the better. I tried YSS on my 2014 Street Glide and they were definitely better than stock but still not what I would call a smooth ride. A good seat also helps a lot with the ride comfort.

Thanks Steelo but i had those on my Streetglide. wasn't real keen on them. I reckon the more travel the better thats why i was looking at the Progressive air shocks, seems you can get them up to 14". Also i agree a good seat would be handy, have been looking at getting a Hammock seat

Thankyou all for the replies, as much as i'd love a set of Ohlins i'm gunna have to go with the 13"Premium HD. I think that 1" extra travel will be the big difference compared to the Premiums i had on my FLHX. I'll report back once i've fitted them.
Thanks

My name is Pete Maddison, Robbie's Dad. My suspension owns every Guinness world record for motorcycle jumping. I'm a qualified bike mechanic, I lectured in Engineering for 30 years, won the Bosch prize for engineering in 1997 and have been building performance suspension for many years.
A 180kg bike and rider coming in from 400' at over 100mph requires quite a deal of suspension know-how, as you'd imagine. :-)
My suspension is properly set up, thanks for your input. Maybe my standards are different to most folks but, for the money they cost, 159s are a very basic unit.
I'll be re-valving them to see if that helps. If I open them up and they have no potential I'll sell them cheap.
All good, ride safe!

I've one more question regarding HD Premium Shocks.
Apparently the 2017 shocks have more adjustment than previous versions. Will they fit?
According to part no's they won't but i don't see why not, they look identical but with more adjustment.
Part No. for older version is 54000008 and Part No. for later shocks as separate units is 54000093 54000094.
Does anyone know if they'll fit as i would rather buy later version if they have more adjustment
Thanks

Damo222...
I read somewhere that the difference post-Rushmore is the eye bolt diameter. Ohlins 159s are already greater diameter in the eye passage than a HD pre-Rushmore tourer requires. They are sleeved down to suit. Hope that helps.

YSS are shit . Thought they were going to be great, speaking to the owner , but lasted 2yrs before needing a $250- rebuild .
