Do I need a tuner?

Hi guy's, do I need a tuner, (whatever brand) if the baffles on a Lowrider S have been modified.

Local dealer does baffle mods to stock pipe, basically make them a bit louder but not like most aftermarket pipes.

Looking at trading in my Street Bob for a Lowrider S and keeping it stock with only this mod done.

Hoping the standard computer could compensate a little without resorting to SE tuner etc.

Just don't want a lean running bike.

I am a bit of a better safe than sorry type of guy but I'm also a bit of a tight arse when it comes to splashin the cash!

I was hoping that because the bike comes with the 110 kit, cams, heavy breather etc and in theory tuned correctly from the factory then just the minor baffle mods wouldn't really affect too much.

Don't really want to buy a tuner just for a lightly modded stock exhaust, that means i'll have to upgrade stuff to justify the tuner ;)

I don't think you need a tune for swapping baffles out. If you were replacing the whole exhaust system sure. Its like VH short shots, you can buy them and then swap over to quite baffles at any time. The only tune you'd want to do is when you installed the V&H pipes.
From the sounds of it, all the shop is doing is making it sound louder.

I did forgot to mention and should have read your post in detail. If you have stock pipes, gutting the baffles will mess up the cats and you might as well be running straight pipes..and your bike will run like crap. If you want to save money but want some decent sound, look at gumtree/facebook market place for slip ons. You should be able to get Screaming Eagle/V&H slip ons etc for couple hundred bucks.

Oh, I thought it would be in the mufflers for them.  My bad.

    Appreciate the responses guy's.

May just buy the bike stock and down the track do the tuner and pipe/slip-ons for piece of mind on the sly so the wife doesn't know, well maybe except for the sound!

The Street Bob was the "forever bike" as far as the wife was concerned so now 18 months down the track I want a trade in, you can guess how that's going down.

The Lowrider S was pretty much the only Harley in my "allocated allowance" that I figured, yep I'm happy with that as is except the sound hence not wanting to spend dollars on decibels only.

Plus telling the wife " doesn't need any mods, promise" ;)
