Lighting switch at night.

Had a 400 km ride the other day, which ended being 200kms at night. I have always been timid riding at night as once while riding curvy country road my lights failed me, and long story short, both ankles pinned, etc, with 2 months in hospital. OK, I do ride at night, rarely though. Back to lighting switch on 2012 Road Glide, the other night. Calder Freeway was fine, but then I a took a back road diversion of say 30 kms of curvy , shitty road at night with some fog and road ice beginning, plus there were the occasional vehicles, both ways. The very shit standard low beam nearly got me riding up a few trees but the bloody high beam switch is crap for accessibility , with gloves. My question being apart from the obvious, don't ride at night, especially when it's heading to -2 deg. on a shit road, plus, get a better headlight system. What a "stupid friggin switch to operate high beam and back to low beam", wearing gloves, at a reasonable speed on shit road changing through the gears. Is there another way to operate high/low via perhaps a button, as switch really detracts from a quick smooth operation? Got that outta my very nearly sorry system, thanks.

I feel the same about the hi-beam switch...it's just a little awkward to get to fast. Maybe get the old style floor mounted hi-beam switch that older cars have....mount it on/in the gear selector side floorboard if you have them....probably not practical, but an interesting thought.

Cool! Sounds like my idea was a good one. Glad to help out. I don't think its a matter of being too old or slow...I find it's hard to find it with gloves on....I sometimes end up hitting the horn instead! Lol.
