Bleeding of Brakes with ABS

A quick one here. Am doing my pre-winter sort out. I have bleed motorcycle and car braking systems, but not one which has ABS. I see the manual refers to digital Tech II quote "to confirm that the brake lines are properly connected and that air is adequately bled from the ABS system.
    (1) I have not disconnected anything
    (2) A vacuum bleeder will be utilised
    (3) have reasonable idea on the workings of.

So, should I haul to dealer to complete bleed and freshen fluid is only,  or can I complete without "loss of control, resulting in death or serious injury".
Your view would helpful in determination, as I prefer to do things myself, which I know are within my capabilities, although do not have the machine that goes "Ping"!
    cheers Baloff

its the same as non ABS systems except that you are pushing the fluid through the ABS valves / solenoids as well and this can be felt as extra resistance when bleeding manually (using brake lever or pedal). The key to this method is not to let any air in the system. If air gets in the ABS system then you need to electronically bleed it.
I have done this on my mates ABS equipped Fatbob which with dual discs seemed to pull to one side when braking on the front and all is well now

Get the dealer to do the ABS activate flush which rapidly cycles the ABS whilst changing fluid. 10 minutes, tops, depends on their minimum charge.
There is no way to correctly purge the ABS circuit of old fluid other than DigiTech11 or something similar.
It's folly to leave the old fluid in the ABS, one day you just might need it all to work, and with old snotty fluid in there, well.....
You asked a similar question a year ago Baloff, about this same time. Rhythmic sorta bloke, you?

I have heard of BMW's where the ABS unit has failed due to corrosion , when the DOT4 had been changed by the owners , but the "old" fluid remained in the ABS circuit.

That's the big trailie GS things , ridden through streams etc etc

As with HD , supposedly the "best" way to change the brake fluid on ABS bikes is with the Dealer Digitech involved.

I've been thinking of changing the brake fluid on my 2013 Breakout , the front was changed by Frasers 2 years ago while chasing a warranty ABS brake light in the dash.

They did hook up the Digitech at that time , saw it done. Fault turned out to be a broken wire in the harness at the steering head after all that.

Watching this thread with interest I will be !

OK. She goes to dealer to get looked at by the machine that goes "Ping"! Not worth leaving any crap fluid in while is trying to keep me alive.
Fatslim well that's an oxymoron to start with haven't you ever heard of groundhog day?
