Oh PB, why did you put that up? All my rage had left me for the day...
Everything he says is true. I'm part of the class action against VW, and I've been reading the antics of VW Australia for months in disbelief. 'The dog ate it, your honour' doesn't even begin to sum up the utter contempt that VW has shown. And the fix?? Well I was hoping that someone credible and independent would come out and say they have done the testing and it's all good -- but I'm convinced that it impossible. It is what it is and you either live with it as is, sell off cheap to a madman or get the fix and your car goes goes backwards performance wise. Prove me wrong... anyone?

So I'm left with a class action that will make my lawyers rich. A car that you'd be mad to buy (though is a lovely reliable car otherwise). I'm glad I wasn't planning on selling it as I'd be rorted. Oh and I worry if I ever needed to take it to an actual VW dealer for a safety related recall, I'd have to make them swear that they wouldn't do the emissions fix on it too! Can you imagine being told you don't get your car back unless you sign the paperwork? I'd go stupid.

    VW. Never. Again.

As a side note, why does it seem most of the mainstream motoring media been ignoring the many feral aspects of this case i.e. How VW Aus has acted? Or did some Indi before/after testing? Work out what happens to values? Perhaps after their initial principled stance, VW Aus has sweet talked them all into moving on and concentrating on the new stuff, not the 1000's of Australians running around in impacted diesels?

Re: lawyer, too soon to say.
I think it will literally need the Federal Court to be within a hours of awarding against VW for them to play ball. Then stall again. And again. All part of the strategy to encourage ppl to get the fix and/or sell the cars on cheaper and then argue the new buyer bought it that way or something.
All designed to minimise the payout. And there should be a payout for false advertising and loss of value. Fact.

I'd believe your mates experience, and I'd bet someone came in and purchased the car at a healthy profit to the dealership.

You do know VW is German right?

You do know that we fought against the Germans in 2 world wars and won right?

Pay back can be a bitch.

All I can say is never again.. those VW arseholes will never get my money again..
I had a diesel Golf GT when the DSG disaster hit them a few years back, piece of shit would randomly cut all power to everything.. 100kmh with no steering, no brakes is a fun experience I tell you.. That along with the injector system blowing itself up (remember they had previous diesel scandals).
Each time VW politely told us 'there is no recall, there is no fault, its all media beat up'.. before making us sign a non disclosure agreement so they would 'do us the favour' of fixing our car as a sign of good will.

Got fucking $8000 trade in on that car, 2 years old, 18000ks on the clock, fully optioned near $50k new.

    Pricks.

And the thieves would have sold it for a good price too, without its history included of course.
The thing is, VW can be a good car but when things go wrong your are screwed fifty different ways. If there is a worse brand for these issues, I haven't heard of it.
