Stage 1 download.

    Hi guys,
I have an 05' heritage EFI that had a stage 1 SE air cleaner and SE slip ons when I bought it.

I want to put on true duals (Bassani or freedom)

After a bit of detective work I got hold of the original delivery note to the previous owner who bought the bike from new. The note states that the SE gear was put on at the dealer and a stage 1 download was done to the ECU.

Would this "map" be sufficient for the new pipes ?  Considering they breathe way more than stock ???
Bearing in mind that I have no plans for any other upgrades to the motor or air cleaner etc.
Or do I need to budget for a $600-$1000 tuner that I will never use other than the initial set up ????

Here in Australia you can only download/upload a stage 1 flash using a Supertuner pro ( $650 to buy , "marries" the bike's ECM !)

You should have been given that with the bike at purchase ( they can and do "go missing" in the bike's life journey)

OR it may have been flashed with a shop using Power Commander Licence to do a one off flash. Unlikely AKA impossible in Australia way back then.

There was a system for a while whereby HD dealers used a one off cartridge in a dealer digitech computer to reflash a stage 1 calibration. ( last used 2006/7 !)

So could be that scenario with your bike. Any changes / reflashes now will need a Supertuner pro ( or one of the other flash tuners like TTS or Powervision)

Probably $650 whichever way you go.

Where in Australia are you ?

    In Sydney mate.
Bike came from QLD and I'm the 2nd owner.

I'm assuming it was one of those $140 one off cartridges. The guy was pretty anal about his bike and kept everything (all pipes bolts etc taken off at dealer), but there is no "tuner"

Only a bit of paper work as follows

I'm just trying to work out if this download would be ok with another set of pipes - ??

Mate , 2005 there are no O2 sensors to worry about.

Plus the original SE slip on mufflers were really quite free flow and almost straight thru' in any case

I don't reckon you'd have any dramas with those true dual replacements.

They may "pop" on decel a bit , I tend to find that they do

I'd be giving it a try before dropping $650 plus on a tuner you'll only need once as you say
