Welcome to the forum. I recently switched from an old '92 Sportster to a newer 2014 Sportster, and while I liked the old style charm of the old bike, I decided that nothing beats modern technology for comfort and reliability. The old bike was good to ride around town but I never really trusted it for road trips. Having modern reliability and technology with brakes and fuel injection puts you at ease that you're not going to break down in the middle of nowhere. It also depends what you want to do with the '93 Wideglide. If you're looking at doing road trips and reliability is an issue I'd get something newer.

I wouldn't be doing long road trips it's more for cruising around town

No shortage of S/H bikes out there, shop around for dollar value also, good luck and welcome to the forum.

Nothing wrong with it. If it has been serviced properly and maintained, you can ride it all day every day. 94 Heritage had 186,000 when I sold it and it is still getting around town. 98 Wideglide had 68,000 when I sold it and it is still getting around. Never had an issue doing 1000 plus klms in a day on any of the Evo's. An Evo motor is bullet proof and you don't need to worry about bullshit sensors fucking up your day. They are a classic bike so get it and ride it. PM me if you want to have a chat about it.

I bought my 97 Wide Glide in December last year with 38000ks on it. Recently had the original carby replaced with a Mikuni setup as the original one had a fuel leak. I got the kit that comes with the K&N hi-flow air filter, air cleaner etc plus a service and a new front tyre. The bike was doing great with the original setup but now....man, it's even better...goes hard. My mate has a 80's springer with the Evo motor and he swears by it.
I love this wide glide....have taken it on 800k round trips and it doesn't miss a beat. It's a beast!

My first HD was a 1998 FXDL. I bought it new and only did 45,000km before I sold it and bought a FXDF 10 years later. I still kick myself as I never should have sold it. Fatbob was great, but I simply loved the Lowrider and the Evo motor. Go for it! Now have a FXDL again for the record, although it's a twin cam ??

Sweet ride! You will find as I did, (my first Harley also), that the more you ride it, the more you bond with it. You think you love it now, but give it a few months and it only gets better.
