     Gday all ,

I am just about to make the switch from a softail with V&H big radius pipes onto a Road King . what twin pipes does everyone rate for a bagger which is going to give a nasty sound ( loud and nice ) ??

Sound is subjective, V&H on mine. Not sure why you want loud pipes for your bike..... Few bad replies lately on s/eagle pipes. Rinehart are also a respected brand

No experience with these pipes but the s&s power tunes pipes are different from the usual v&h power duals and I reckon they look better. I've never had dramas with any s&s gear they make and sell good gear

Stock OEM CVO Bagger mufflers , with Fullsac baffle replacements.

Absolut quality , good looks , and cheaper than new slip on mufflers.

CVO Bagger mufflers off ebay or Gumtree , baffles ex-US.

It's just not a "today" thing is all , takes a bit of organising.

End performance as good or better than any other slip on mods.

    ( Now I'm assuming you're NOT talking an M8 bike here !)

Got V & H big shots on my Ultra. Love the look / sound around town and on quick blasts up through the hills. On long trips however, the constant intrusive droning noise does your head in. I have to wear earplugs all the time. Does take away from the enjoyment of the on board communication setup. I've currently given up on the intercom as the road and exhaust noise upsets the microphone VOX.
Took the slash cut mufflers off my soft tail deuce for the same reason. It's far more enjoyable to ride as well.

thanks to everyone for the time to reply .

I guess I'm used to having loud pipes , but I'm taking into account your advice for long trips as the most kms I have done on my Breakout is around 400 per day ( up 27000 kms in the last 28 months just sunday cruising )

also I think I'm judging the sound at idle more and out on the Highway .

thanks again lads for your input !

I had Fullsac ceramic coated, stepped header pipes on my Road Glide. Removes the CAT, gave awesome power across range (had SE 254e cams) and SE mufflers. Very deep sounds and really roared when on the gas. Otherwise just a real nice deep growl!
Got header pipes direct from Fullsac in Arizona, USA. About $550 Australian delivered I recall. Fullsac all about bangers. Checkout their site.
