Hey, hoping for some input about this little issue:
1994 Fatboy.  The weather is getting a little colder.  I'm finding that when I press the starter switch to fire her up, sometimes nothing happens for about 1-2 seconds.  It sometimes happens after fueling too.  I have a brand new HD battery.  Fully charged.  Terminals clean etc.  Screaming Eagle ignition module that is admittedly a few years old.

Any suggestions as to what is going on here?

    Thanks,

    KFatty

How cold we talking? My new HD struggled to start on cold mornings (0 plus or minus 5) but after leaving her on trickle charge whilst parked, no dramas.

I found this... the wire that runs from the Voltage Regulator down through the frame under engine to the connection behind the oil tank.
Exposed wire... Could this be the culprit?  It appeared to have been wrapped in electrical tape.

    Thanks guys.

if its the wire from the voltage regulator then its the one that goes to the battery positive terminal and is the one that actually charges up your battery as your ride.
If it shorts out then its just going to earth the feed and not charge the battery (assuming your year uses the shunt style regulator)

Wrap in tape and tie to the frame
