I have a customer, older bloke, who owns a 93 Sportster. He's having a few problems with backfiring and contacted Frasers to see if he could book it in to be looked at.

They told him that they only service Harelys from 1995 onwards!!!

    DUH!!!!!!??????

I think if they cant plug it into their electronic anyliser they are shit out of luck working out what the problem is.

Welcome to the computer age of diagnostics and servicing.

They can only un bolt and bolt back on.

The old tune by ear is a thing of the past nowadays.

Good question Matt. I assume he has had the mobile guys doing it. I think he figured that the experts at the dealership would have a better handle on more unusual problems.

In this day and age it's bloody amazing to me how some businesses can stare a customer in the face and tell him they don't want the business. Tell him to take it to a good non-dealer bike shop, they'll appreciate his business.

I feel ya pain, fucking dealers!
I wouldn't let em touch it even if they did know what they were doing.
Buy the manual and do it yourself.
At least that way ya learn something.
The only thing you will learn from a dealer is to never go back there after they insult you or scratch ya bike.

Diy! For a 93xlh I have a HD owners manual, Official factory manual and a Parts catalog all purchased for less than $100 the lot. I have never experienced another motorcycle manufacturer to supply to the public the amount of information that these HD official books contain.

    Easy bikes to work on.

Not as hard as they make out.

They are built by Americans you know.

I'm not a fan of Frasers, up in Perth.  I went to buy a new ride & they thought I was joking.... The salesman was a prick and I bought my bike over East.

    Ego-High baby!!

If ur down the coast in Walpole any time I'll help you out.

makes one seriously think of travelling the 250kms to Bunbury for parts/new bikes and let South West Harley Davidson get the business

That's about how far I have to go for my service anyway hogman1949. Doesn't really bother me as it's a good ride and I can usually catch up with my daughters on the day.
