    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has experience with 490 progressive shocks. They are going on a low rider. I had ordered 444 until I found out it was a 10-12 week wait. There doesn't seem to be a lot of real world info out there.

I don't have any experience with the 490's but curious who told you that wait time on 444s?

I ordered my 444s from Revzilla, ordered them Thursday night and had them before Friday the following week.

Rollies here in Australia have run out of stock.

Finally fitted the 490's today and they are really good. They make the bike feel a lot better on a rough road, not a great deal of different on the smooth stuff but make the rear end feel a lot more solid. Next comes the front, as that just feel so inadequate.

Its a 2016 Low Rider. I set the sag as best as I could by measuring the with the wheel off the ground. Took it for a spin but seemed a little firm, but that could of been they were just new. I adjusted it more on the the recommendations of the spring length that comes with the shocks the spring length is currently set to about 200mm bike only . I weigh 82kg and the bike is relatively standard, haven't tried it with a pillion yet. but did about 250kms on the weekend over relatively rough roads and it felt alot better. The steering is alot sharper probably due to the back lifted slightly. I haven't adjusted the dampening yet.
One thing that you need to modify is the chrome shock top bolt covers as the cutout isnt big enough

I looked at overseas but by the time shipping, exchange rate and other bank fees came into account it was a lot in the price difference. I ended up purchasing them through Harley Heaven Western Sydney.

Leachy, I wish you well with your Progressive 490s.
Setting the sag correctly by way of spring preload provided you have the correct spring*, then subsequently adjust rebound will assist accurate evaluation of improvement.
    * @ 82kg you're close to HD ideal weight. I'm a fat bastard and usually use a heavier spring, eat more and exercise less.
The stock shocks of the Lowrider aren't wonderful, the 490 would offer an improvement.

I own a Lowrider S which is fitted with a different (better, and a price to match) rear shock from the factory, hence I asked the settings you had struck.

Decided to purchase Ohlins HD762, took 5 days to arrive from OS to my door. Saved $500 on the Aussie MSRP price with help from an ebay offer.
Ripper shocks for a Lowrider, or Lowrider S, especially if you prefer ride height close to stock or up to +10mm.
Ohlins HD816 if you're into further ground clearance flexibilty, but there's a bit more to it than that.

    Hi Fatslim,
I would have liked Ohlins but the extra cost wasn't in the bubget, I also have a VFR if I want to go fast around corners, wanted it more for comfort.

Ohlins are the pinnacle in my opinion

    Hi Fatslim,
They cost $985.00, I decided to buy from here as I get a local lifetime warranty and I had some spare cash.

I still really happy with them the whole bike seems to be getting a bit better now it's hit 2500kms. I'll probably fit the progressive cartridge inserts in the near future.

    Regards
