Stretched bags look great on most tourers......also hold a fair bit more!

The extended bags may look a bit odd from behind on TJU's bike ,with the exhaust round cut outs and no pipes

Tim, good luck with getting the headsets and whim working before heading off mate. Bike looks great and like the bar change. Extended bags would look good - have a look at the AdvanBlack site.
You should consider putting your bike in the bike show at Harley Days mate - if nothing else, you get to park inside and not out on the grass :).
I'm hoping to head there on the Saturday or Sunday for a couple of hours, I'm night shift all weekend so I'll have to see how I go but I'm lucky it's only about 30 mins from my place.

Bit of an update , most of you guys probably know anyhow ... When sussing out the Official Harley Tech at Harley Days about my Headsets , which I have posted under the other post in this section ... I asked him about the Oil and M8's motor issues .
He confirmed the Oil Pump issues and actually said that  while most seemed to have worked there were still some motors out there still having dramas ... He was talking World wide by the way .

Next he confirmed the Oil transfer from Gear box to primary was real ... Every Dealer I have asked has denied any knowledge about the issue ... He said that it was due to some seals on Output Shaft , I think , heaps of people asking different question , may have got that wrong ... Just thought it was interesting that he would admit it when Dealership won't .

The next thing was the Water pump issues on some that again most were sorted but were still finding some playing up .

This guy was not trying to dodge any questions like some would and not sure if he was brought out especially but he was definitely a Yank ... Just have to get our Dealers to admit issues for people experiencing any of these dramas .

I know of one service bulletin from Harley that the Dealership's have acknowledged , the one about the Oil Pump ... I think someone on this site let me know about the Oil transfer issue and when I inquired at 3 different Dealership's they all said they were unaware of the problems ... So they definitely can dodge the problems wether they are doing it intentionally or not is another story ... Mind you it has been about 2 weeks since I approached the 3 Dealership's .
It doesn't help the people who are being affected already I suppose but hopefully now that the parent company is confirming the problems then maybe they can force local Dealership's to honour any future issues .

Hey guys is there a website to find said Service bulletins ... have been looking and haven't found any as yet ... the bulletin regarding the Oil Pump Issue I got from here and I had that number to take to dealer with me at the time and as you say they couldn`t deny it .

But Haven`t been able to find the one about the Oil Transfer issue ... is there a site specific to Service and Technical alerts regarding Harleys .

Heya TJU - I dug out my VIN and put it into the portal but can’t see any service bulletins.....sorry for the bum steer with that. The US boys reckon there is a area on HD’s website that contains them but I don’t know where that might be.

Thanks for the feedback guys ... Will keep an eye out for any alerts or bulletins down the line .
One little bit of good news for me , now home from the 2,500 klm Harley Days trip ... Had no loss of Gear box oil and no loss of power ... Had a couple of occasions where I chose to over take a few trucks and Grey Nomads ... The Stage 4 motor really came into its own , what an nice feeling when you crack open all that lovely power .

Only bummer for trip home was pretty high winds and some shit roads along the Golden Hwy and the Castlereigh Way Hwy and the Gore Hwy is so straight and boring ... But all in all a pretty good 7 days .

Just had 1st decent ride after fitting new SE high flow filter (new round style filter #29400355) covered with a Fatbob a/c cover and loaded stage 1 map with Super Tuner Pro - very nice. Lovely induction roar when giving it some :) Was looking at the ventilator #29400299 but wanted more weather protection.
1st experience with EITMS, any thoughts on this -good/bad. Comes activated in stage 1 calibration.
Haven't done any smart tunes yet, plan to later on but bike feels good all over. Overall, impressed and think the Fatbob cover suits the M8 engine well.
Took advice of Fikmik and Hilly here- that is fitted a/c and stage 1 calibration before doing pipes, more time to decide/listen to mufflers.
    cheers

James, keep us in the loop mate.
We all interested in your predicament, and maybe assist in a little way, by use of the keyboard.

My MY17 Road King with 12000 kms has just gone into the shop for a new motor due to sumping, scorred cylinder walls on the back cylinder and 200 ml of oil in the crankcase.
Excellent service from Frasers Wollongong, have given me a 2018 Street Glide to use while i wait for the king to get its new heart.

18 M8 road king has started a new habit. Usually sits In mid 800s at idle when warm but last 3 good rides goes down to 800rpm then after a about 15/20 secs picks up idle to around 1000 by itself. She’s got 14000km and is stock besides V&H slip ons. Any thoughts? Only happening after a descent ride and when bike is at full temp not when just going quick local rides.

Could it be rear cylinder shut out for heat management? The idle just doesn’t sound right which made me think this, it never use to do this just started, is it part of EITMS system

Aswering my own questions here. Here’s i bit of info i found about EITMS on American site.
    .......
The EITMS can be enabled by the owner and it is completely up to you if you want it on or not.

All you have to do is roll the throttle the opposite direction (forward) and hold it. You will see your cruise control light blink either amber or green. Amber means it is disengaged and green means it is engaged. You can also verify by pushing the "i" button on your right control.
     .........

Mine was on. I adjusted my throttle grip the other day and must have turned it on, explains the reason it was happening at temp.

Very interesting . . . can I ask what air cleaner you have?
My reason for asking is that I was told sumping only occurred on stage IV and V motors and that my problem was the stage 1 air cleaner.
The bike was replaced after a bit of too-ing and fro-ing but I would be interested to know which cleaner you have. Thankfully my replacement has been running perfect and I am very happy with it now at just over 15,000k.

Screaming Eagle stage 1 air cleaner, i am not a hard rider either, only have 4 points left on licence, get them back same time warranty runs out.

Thanks, just as I thought. Mine was the same cleaner which they tried to tell me was the issue. That was before the second re-build and Harley Australia finally replacing the whole bike with an MY18.
Just goes to show, you don't need to cop the BS from dealerships if you know it ain't right.
