Following this chat with interest. I'm down to get a new set this month and am after something stickier than stock and good in the wet ... so ND's or the Cobras are the options.
Seems more and more ppl are rating the Avon's, ever slightly, over the Pirelli's for wet performance.

can anyone shed some light on the price and install of say night dragons or any other tyre .
Harley has quotes for their tyres , i think michellin scorcher $550 with free fitment ,

was wondering if you can get better tyres installed for this price

Canberra HD quoted me $500 for ND's fitted (for a Fat Bob); gotta ask about the Avon's.
I double checked elsewhere (with a metric shop) and they came closer to $550.

Try the Shinko 777, it's so cheap you feel guilty but I reckon it's a great tyre.

Also used Avon Cobra's and they were excellent but 2x the cost of Shinko's. Definately not twice the tyre.

The stock dunlops/michelins from HD are crap.

the best sportster tyre if you ride fast, is Avon AM18. with Avon the lower the number the stickier they are cobra. but the stock hard cobra is am42 the am18 a lot stickier compound the roaring sports they used to road race here & in USA all mostly ran the avon am18

Just on my second set of Pirelli Night Dragons on my 883 Low.  A very nice sticky set of all weather tyres (I ride every day summer and winter)

Doesn't sticky mean it'll (the tyre) only have a short life.
