Electric bike thread, who's got one?

A few weeks ago I moved into the city for work after 6 years in the suburbs.  So typical city commute problems, traffic, parking costs etc.  So I vowed if I ever had to commute daily to the city, I'd get a 125 scooter or something suitable for commuting and free parking.  But then I got the idea of getting an electric pushy.  Just like electric cars, electric bikes have been on the rise, mostly overseas.  But there is a decent selection now available in Australia.  I went for this Leitner bike, 250w motor, 26" wheels, 10amp battery, 25kg in weight.

Law limits street going bikes to 250w motor and throttle only limited to 6km per hour.  But with a simple disconnect of a wire (details in manual), the throttle only speed can be increased to 25km/h.  Mine does about 27km on throttle only with tyres at 50psi.  The battery lasts me my entire days commute, then I just charge over-night.  Charging is estimated to cost around .10c for a full charge.

After using the electric bike for the last few weeks, it's great.  I can ride to work with minimal peddling effort and arrive without looking like I've just run a marathon.  Pics below.

    Any one else got one?

They are deadly to pedestrians. Nearly got skittled in Shanghai more times than i could count at night. They are silent and to save power they don't turn the lights on. Add in the traffic runs the opposite way and it's way simple to step in front of one.
