I have a 2013 road king with 62k on the clock.
It started leaking oil from the primary casing and am told by harley it has a gear box bearing gone.
I'm told that it will cost 2k to replace all bearings metal bits will have gone thru the rest of the bearings.
Seems to me that a bearing should last much more than 65k.
    Anyone had the issue?

Had the inner primary bearing go on my 08 Streetbob at about 72000km.
The missus has just turned over 85,000km on her '13 Slim with no dramas, so I reckon its a bit of a crap-shoot as to how long they last.

I've got a 08 streetglide and the main drive gear bearing in the gearbox went at around 60k. Was quoted roughly 2k to get it fixed but thought fck that. Bought all the tools needed for around 800 or 900 and did it my self. Handy that I've got a lift table and I'm a mechanic. Pretty easy to do really. Could have gotten away with just buying a couple of the tools in hindsight but wasn't to know till you're up to your elbows in it.
