OK Men, looking at getting some lower fairings for my 2016 Street Glide. What are the pros and cons with having them. Did you but genuine Harley ones or aftermarket ones. just wanting to get some feed back before I shell out nearly $1k or close to it

Dear Odin. I hope Tim SG will chip in. He bought lowers for his SG a year or so ago and they look magic. He put additional speakers in his.
My ULTRA came with them standard (of course) and some recent riding has really made me appreciate the openness of the softtail front end. Having said that, I'm looking forward to cooler weather when they will come into their own. I'm hoping you won't have to pay $1K and I wonder if Tim did it cheaper. I think the EBay ones come standard in Gloss Black so if your bike is black (they all should be) then that's a saving. Post pics

I've got the genuine Harley ones. Great in winter and cold weather. I run the vents open in summer but took them off altogether in the middle of the heat wave. Vents work well otherwise. They're good when touring long distances as they eliminate a lot of wind buffet from down low. A bit more storage space comes in handy sometimes too.
The fork mounted wind deflectors could be a cheaper effective option if wind deflection is what you're after. No such option of these on the road glide

As well as on wet days saving a heap of spray and road grime from the front wheel onto boots and trousers.

True dat , steelo. I thought I'd be pretty dry when riding from Omeo to ensay in the rain with big screen and lowers but I was as soaked as everyone else. But they'd have to reduce spray off the road a lot

Good stuff Odin and I hope they're ok and good quality. I was tempted to go aftermarket but didn't want to risk quality. So shelled out $1k for the Harley ones. The quality and paint is great as you'd expect but it'd want to be for the cost. I put lockable glovebox doors on mine that I found on ebay but you're putting speakers in which sounds good. What speakers and amp are you gonna run?
