Harley introduces New Street Rod

Harley-Davidson Inc. has added another bike to its 2017 motorcycle lineup with the new Street Rod aimed at urban riders.
The bike’s High Output Revolution X 750 engine produces 18% more horsepower and 8% more torque, according to Harley. The engine has a larger air box, revised four-valve cylinder heads and high-lift camshafts.
"It really delivers a punch between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm, power you can always feel and use in real-world riding situations. Liquid cooling helps maintain that performance and rider comfort in stop-and-go urban traffic,” said Mathew Weber, the Street Rod’s chief engineer.
The new bike has antilock brakes and a security system as standard equipment. It also has a liberal dose of Harley-Davidson’s Dark Custom styling.
"We made this new bike look tough and aggressive,” said lead designer Chetan Shedjale.

In February, Harley unveiled a 2017 Road King Special that also swaps chrome surfaces for black. The engine guard, handlebar and hand controls, mirrors, turn signals, engine covers, air cleaner cover, mufflers and exhaust shields are all black.
For 2017, the company says it anticipates full-year motorcycle shipments to be flat-to-down modestly compared with 2016 as the new model-year bikes are held back some until last year’s inventory is sold.
Harley shipped 262,221 motorcycles in 2016, below its forecast of 264,000. Sales in the United States, which is the company’s largest market, were flat compared with 2015, and dealerships were left with many unsold 2016 model-year bikes.
Sales in the overall motorcycle industry were down about 2.5% last year.

It's on the HD Oz webpage. Sure I read somewhere, expect it May sometime.

But it is coming. To fill the HUGE void that is the VRod. (Not likely with 68 hp )

It's coming to Oz in May for $12,995.
I reckon it looks good bar that pipe. Be interesting to see how that engine goes too. Good on HD I say.

I'm not sure what to make of those mirrors on the ends of the handle bars.

Hey, we're an inclusive bunch around here, don't go dumping on Hamsters, especially the patched up Harley ridin' types!

But seriously, those hipsters will be the next gen of riders cashed up and looking for a cool ride.

    Bring it on.

soon there will be a ~150cc gap between all Harley's, just to give the choice to all tastes

when is the 883 going to be discontinues, only the 1200 to keep the name there

    500 for the learner
    750 for the lady racer
900 for the "old school" nastalgia number (ok I made this one up)
skip to the 1200 Sporty and XR
then the V-rod range (3 styles)
    the range of Softails
    the range of Dynas
    the range of Tourers

it is all bollocks, they are becoming a fad company

    just my opinion

I've always thought HD should have imported the 750cc as well as the 500cc and a mildly warmed over version of that 750cc machine makes even more sense.  And at $12,995 it fills a hole in their price range.
By itself it's probably a decent choice for shorter riders but calling it a V-Rod... someone in marketing should be slapped silly for that idea.

I rode the 500, it does not handle well at all. I presume this will be the same. The 883 handles much better
