Your existing username/password will work on the new site. But I strongly suggest making sure that your email address is up to date in the current site. You will be able to use the “forgot password” feature on the new site to reset your password as long as your email address is valid.
To update your email address in the current site click on your username in the top right corner of the site. You can update your email address easily from there.

No, the new site will replace the old one. All relevant content from the old site will be brought over to the new one.
