I use spray n wipe glass cleaner. But any glass cleaner will work.

Just remember to only wash it with dishwashing liquid - the normal car wash stuff doesn't like denim paint.

Hey Guys, i was my Denium paint with CT18 truck wash cleans the chrome up nicely and all the crap off the paint, dish washing liquid has Costic in it and will stuff the paint as far a i new....I also wipe the tank and guards down with the HD paint cleaner.

Sand camo denim on mine- I use the green heavy duty cleaner from super cheap to get rid of all the gunk and then give it a once over with the Harley denim paint cleaner. As stated by others, windex is also fine. Important thing with denim paint is not to buff it, just wipe it over. Don't go all Mr Miyagi on it or you'll leave permanent shiny spots and it looks chatty

Even though the manual advises to use it?

FWIW, had mine 12 months and still looks new. Seems the dishwashing liquid (as advised in the manual) with windex works.

Have seen other denim paint finishes after 12 months that have lost the "denim" look.

Each to their own I guess, but it's working for me so far.

I just wonder if Harley has tested this shit or if they're just talking out of their arse. Short term great look isn't my thing, I want my paint to last.

Okay, just to upset everyone's apple cart.
My Denim Black FXDB '08 model owned from new.

I do everything Uncle Ho's page out of the manual tells you not to do.

If the bike is real grubby, I hit it with the S100 cycle cleaner first, then rinse. Then wash as per normal.

Normal wash is HD Sunwash, or if I dont have any, Turtle Wax carwash. Rinse it off & dry. Then I get a micro fibre rag and spray a bit of FW1 High Performance Cleaning Wax on it.
Lightly wipe the paint down, then use another micro fibre rag to wipe off more or less straight away. I dont let the stuff dry to a haze. But do the wipe on, wipe off thing.
It doesnt come up shiny, but it doesnt have the very dull, sun faded look that some Denim/Matte finishes do. Maybe it looks more like a Satin finish. I dunno. Anyway it seems to give a bit more depth to the paintwork.
People reckon the bike looks great, so gotta be happy with that.
Havent tried Windex, but did try the Harley denim paint cleaner. After a few tries I ended up chucking it in the back of the cupboard, cos no matter what I did, it wouldnt leave a streak-free finish.
Each to there own I guess. Dont think there's a right or wrong way. Just your way.
I think after nearly 9 years and 115000km, my paint looks as good, if not better, than brand new.
