I have a 95 883 sportster and I want to change the shockies on it. There seems to be lots of different size shocks available. Do I measure from the middle of the upper bolt to the middle of the lower bolt to get the correct length of the shock? If that is correct then it comes to 13 1/4 inches and this doesn't seem right.

13.5 inch should be I think for your year. You usually measure the distance between the upper and lower mounting points (the middle of the holes).
Customs were 11.5, forgot what size Lows were.

when we where racing these model we run 15 " to 17" long shocks to make for quicker steering & more ground clearance . but measure with da back wheel off da ground with no wieght on da shock ,  free lenght eye to eye
