My holiday makeover - '93 FXR

Hey guys, haven't been super active on the forum but I thought I would show you my FXR in its latest guise.

Particular attention paid to handling this time round. Gazi Nitro 13" shocks, Racetech springs and emulators in the front with RSD preload adjusters and a Tokico 4 pot caliper (SV650) with floating rotor.

I rate the Gazi shocks highly. They have a ton of adjustability and they look cool too.
Squishy rubber swingarm bushes are gone, replaced with spherical bearings and billet pivot kit from Paughco. Has really tightened up the rear.
New tins and shiny gloss black (of course) as well as '59-'60 OEM FL tank emblems. Rear fender is a chopped factory unit with approx 5 inches of overhang removed. Got stuck in with the dremel and I reckon the end result is pretty sweet.
Custom 14" x 26" wide T-bars, T-Sport replica fairing with 12" screen. Bars are amazingly comfortable with the mid controls. Has a slight vibration transferring through them but they are solid mounted so I expected that. Clutch cable is a tad short but still works fine for now.
Motor-wise, its pretty mild as I ride every day so reliability is pretty important to me. Andrews cam, K&N intake, Crane ignition and Bassani Road Rage II pipe. Headwork is next. The Road Rage is a sweet pipe but pretty quiet for what I am used to. It does have a nice roar and a kick in the arse when on the hammer though.
Heaps of powdercoating and a total rewire too.
Still waiting to find a matching rear OEM alloy and then rear brakes are next. Will probably use another Tokico caliper as Im pretty impressed with the front brakes.

Oh, for a cheap tyre, the Shinko 777s are great too.

Let the SOA jokes begin... :)

    Cheers,

Hey mate, shocks cost me $900 delivered give or take.  They are built on an as ordered basis so you can specify rider weight, riding style etc.

Stoked with it mate. Spent some time tuning the suspension today and it handles like its on rails.

A lot of fun to ride, too many jacks about though today..

Looks fantastic, how loud is that Bassani?? I have one on my bike and yesterday repacked the baffle and extended it out about 100mm so it finnishes in line with the end cone. Definatley helped to make the note a little deeper and a fraction quieter but could do with some more noise reduction but have no idea what else to do.

    Cheers...

Looks like a fun ride. Nice work! Re: the front suspension mods, are you rating the RSD preload adjusters? I would have thought the Racetek work would be enough but extra adjustability makes sense.

Hey guys thanks for the compliments. Sparra, I actually find the Road Rage to be pretty quiet at the moment. Thinking of pulling the baffle and unwrapping it to see if that makes a difference. I am only punching 80 cubes through it though so that could be why..

JFE, I do rate the RSDs, I think the adjustable preload is great for the various shitty Newcastle roads. I would recommend trimming the spacers though otherwise the forks are too stiff. I think I trimmed mine about 1/2" and it seems sweet. 10w fork oil in there too.

    Cheers,
