ME... A Business Services Advisor.... 12 months ago it was the best job... I'm quarry supervisor at the backfill quarry at Olympic Dam. Basically overseeing the crushing operations. Hot, busy, dirty, dusty work... but I don't mind it. A 13 hour shift flies by bloody quick. Before that I was a crusher operator, excavators, loaders, spent some time on dumpies. Did 12 months driving agi trucks underground at OD... not a bad job, but it was hours of boredom with moments of terror. Gets fucken slippery down there. Just before taking on the supervisor job I spent a few shifts on dozers... not a machine I really wanted to operate, but it would be good to get some hours up on em. Still haven't touched a grader though, and not sure if I'll get the chance to now.
Thought about looking for work in WA (are there many jobs going?).... but I reckon I'll stick around at OD. Close to home (6 hour drive) and I would like to be there if and when the show goes open cut. Would like to get on some bigger gear... biggest digger we got here is 125 tonne.
Gday all.
I worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with Ansett for 24 years up until they went bust. After Ansetts collapse I bought my own concrete truck, and ran that for 4 years until returning back to the Aviation industry, where I have been now for three years. Cheers.
