I work for Amdel as their IT Tech/Manager for WA.... Been doing IT for 15 years.

My day to day work consists of trouble shooting PC issues on specialised equipment in the mining analytical industry, networking, programming in C++ / PHP / MySQL etc etc (not that may mean much to most of you) and one of my favourite duties are to maintain a fleet of 12 custom automated robotic analysis cells, holding two certificates in ABB Robotics Programming/Maintenance... all fun and games, not your average job!

I started my working life as an apprentice mechanic, progressed through the ranks to being the Service Manager for a number of different companies. Work for my self now doing small manufacturing jobs and sericve work.

Hey Paul, was always a "blundstone" man till a few years ago when I pulled on my first pair of your boots. I have been buying-wearing them ever since. Any chance you make riding boots that you can wear all day. My "rebs" are great to ride in but no good if you are walking around a show or at a rally, would save me taking an extra pair of boots away. Congratulations on a great Aussie made product.

    G'day Guys,

I'm a boring accountant for an international Australian based company.  Have always loved working on anything with a piston engine but never wanted to do the work for strangers.

I consider my work as paying for my family and hobbies.

I'm a Team Leader for IBM, in charge of the Gov Helpdesk.
We support the Victoria Police, Dept of Veterans Affairs, Dept of Education and Training, and Customs.

So basically, any cop in Victoria who can't tell his right click from his spacebar (or any other prob with his PC, but don't laugh, the right click thing can be a real issue), calls my guys to sort it out.

Hey Paul.C, what sort of coin would I be looking at for a pair of those boots, just checked them out on the website, they don't look too bad at all.

I have been in the industry for 34 years and have seen it all.

I have worked with some great Mechanics and some of the biggest wankers on the planet who i would not let them change the spark plug on my lawnmower but i suppose there are good and bad in any industry.

Still play with cars and bikes and love the Harley.

Gee What a really diverse rang of skilled people we have here, what was that my mum said about guys that ride harleys....mmm

Me, Well i left school at 15 (thought i knew better, sound firmiliar?) got and aprenticeship as a Spray painter and with my love of cars and bikes (dad restored old british bikes) managed to get a job at a restoration place and learnt the "right way" of how to do things, anything from wheeling up panels on cars to metal finnishing and how to do the best quality paint jobs around, for this i thank the guys who taught me and my old boss for putting up with my smart arse attitude.

From there i worked around the panel shop industry working on porsche. merc , ferarri etc

I had know a guy who did custom paint work for a while and we decided to set up a company called "War Paint" doing custom paint work on bikes, cars and boats etc.
As incredibly talented as my business partner was he was an artist who was really unreliable (i should have known better) and that fell apart.
At the same time i started doing a job for a guy in the spa industry, long story short i ended up working for him and that led to me starting a new business called Bathmagic (hence the name), we repair spas, baths etc, I have also developed and patented a system for repairing laminates for benchtops and kitchen panels or Laminex as its mostly called by here in Australia check my web page
    www.bathmagic.com.au

Nowdays at the old age of 33 i employ a number of staff while running Bathmagic we also make and sell spas we service over 600 builders/renovators across Victoria and are now setting up a new factory to manafacture Hydrotherapy baths for the beauty industry, one must keep the creative juices flowing !

So the constant juggle of Work, WIfe, Kids and my own hobbies which are the Harley and flying RC helicopters im flat out.

So thats me , Just drop a line to say hello anytime

Great to here a bit of history and all the different jobs us guys do as well as ride Harleys.

Just a reminder we all have the option to update our profiles with a bit of relevant info also.

Sometimes makes for a good read when the forum is a bit slow or we are doing f--k all at work.

    Or pretend to work.

    Keep the job profiles coming.

I started out working as a trainee manager for the GJ Coles company which lasted just over two years. I had hoed to become a graphic artist and went to night school as I didn't make it into uni. Due to my work hours I began to fail night school so quit.

I made a move to Australia Post and the Perth Mail Exchange which I had performed duties previously as a Christmas casual straight out of high school. The place moved and became the Perth Mail Centre. I stayed there for over 13 years in which time I had taken a role as an SMO1, SMO2 (supervisory roles). I then worked a shift that was a 6pm to 2am + overtime and gave up the supervisor role. I got tired of the managerial B.S so I became an Occupational Health & Safety rep and eventually a Union rep. I took a redundancy package that was offered due to health issues.

I had my own business and worked with a group of people until I realized I was being screwed and after losing roughly $54k I had to go back to a 'job'.

I now work for HBF in the call centre.....oh, excuse me.......in the Members Services Centre (call centre is a dirty word) selling home, car, boat, caravan & travel insurance and taking the first call for claims lodgements. I'm currently waiting for a job to be advertised with another potential employer to hopefully get out of insurance. Fingers crossed.

If only I could get a job that entailed riding my Harley and being obnoxious on forums

When I was a young fella I started out as a Mech Trades Assistant but I'm a big bloke and stooping under the hoists was hurting me back, and the pay was absolute shit.
They offered me an apprenticeship for even less money (was about $120 a week). I politely declined and scored myself a job driving trucks for a rental company for three times as much. That was around the time they built the new parliament house here in Canberra.

Then spent about 4 years in a warehouse slowly going insane with boredom, but started studying computer programming.

After the warehouse got to me I got into Geotech work (testing concrete and soil testing). Hard work but got to travel a bit. Worked on Building some oilrigs in the Gong.

Then decided to go back to school and get some better qualifications in IT. Some told me I was crazy but it ended up being the best decision I ever made. While I was doing that I did a bit of security work (bouncing) as well.

After sudying I started my IT carreer in Sydney city for a few years, then Wollongong and Gosford.

Ended up back in Canberra as an IT consultant, & now I build databases for the Federal Government. Hardly get the chance to ride with mates at all now as I've got the little ones but hope to get into it some more when they get older.
