Could anyone please tell me what the process is for getting my bike registered when its finished?
Its a dna prostreet frame with vin # and certificate, the engine is a harley electra glide 88 with its own vin # etc so
Just wondering if its as simple as getting a queensland roadworthy cert done... or does the bike need an engineering inspection before road worthy?

    Thanks

Nice looking project. It'll be a real head turner. I cant give you the information I need living in SA but how did you come to start a technically and mechanically complex build without knowing what the final compliance procedure was? Just asking.

The bike has always been built to comply with qld rules and has been an ongoing project for a few years, it will soon to be getting to the buisness end of things and i was under the impression that because it is a built from scratch bike it would need to be engineered, but i am now getting some conflicting information given the boke and engine both have legit serial numbers.
So hopeing some one out there has been through the same project and can shed some light.

    Thanks

The Finished Bike has to be inspected by a Engineer, You also have to have photos of you putting it together, It must have Emarked Lighting Aust ADR Approved Brake lines, The Exhaust must be 94 Db, Also in QLD you must have a permit to build a custom Bike before you start that is issued by the the Qld Dept of Transport

    Kelly,
I gotta say I love the layout of your workshop, wish I could keep mine that neat.
That bike looks bloody neat too. Keep up the good work.

Having built up a chopper from scatch in Qld , I know the process, you are suspossed to apply for permit to build an ICV if it is a DNA frame and not a Harley frame with a VIN number already  from transport first but you can apply after .   Keep build photos and receipts for parts, frame number and engine nos , are not vin numbers, Build must inspected by engineer, noise test stationary and drive by must be done 94db. A brake test must be done also, Im in Brisbane  and used  a place up at Clontarf  called SafetyCertQld they have a website Phone 1300727792, I deallt with a bloke named Tony, good blokes to deal with, the Engineer used to work for Qld Transport. Cost me $2500 for engineering and all the testing they have to hire a test track somewhere to do brake test and drive by noise test. I did mine at Mt Cotton driving track.ICV is a induvidually Constructed Vehicle . They normally have 3 or more vehicles to do to make it worthwhile . After all the inspections are done  document are submitted to Transport by Engineer.Transport drags their feet normally takes about  2 Months for them to issue VIN number. All the requirments to build ICV are on Federal Govt Website forgot what site just google ICV requirements and should find it from there. It seems like a dauting task at first but  after doing it wasnt so bad as long as you buy parts that are compliant and build bike compliant to start with.......... Cheers Good Luck with the Build................

    Meanmother thanks for your info.
Just for future reference for anyone attempting the same, i just called qld transport and they have just recently abolished the need for a permit to build a bike, they told me all i had to do was work closely with my engineer to make sure it doesnt fail when the time comes.
They also gave me the number of a local bloke who does the engineering in my home town wich is great.
