The Swan River Chapter HOG is leading a Charity Ride on February 19, 2017 for the Dogs Refuge Home to try and raise $2500 to sponsor a kennel for a year. All bike riders (all breeds) are welcome and all dog lovers can donate to this very worthy cause. The Dogs' Refuge Home in Shenton Park is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, care and re-homing of dogs. Established in 1935, it is one of the oldest animal welfare agencies in Australia. Our activities are motivated by the fundamental understanding that dogs are entitled to the same love and respect that they unconditionally give to us. Based at 30 Lemnos Street, Shenton Park, their kennels are capable of housing up to 150 dogs. The home rescues approximately 100 dogs per months and has a pro-life policy, which ensures that no dog will be euthanised on economic grounds. Every year they take in many hundreds of dogs that have been abused, neglected or simply no longer wanted. Without your donations they are unable to provide vital care to these beautiful dogs. Kennel sponsorship is just $2500 per annum and covers the following annual costs for one kennel: • Bedding • Food bills • Veterinary expenses • Toys and kennel enrichment The ride will leave from Perth Harley Davidson at 0900 and ride to the Dogs Refuge in Shenton Park. The cost is $10 per bike and we have set up a fundraising page if you cannot make the ride but want to help the Refuge! https://give.everydayhero.com/au/swan-river-chapter-charity-ride
A worthy cause. I have four rescue/hand-me-down dogs and they are all precious to me. I had five but lost dear old Molly in October. She also was a throw-away and we had her for 14 years. Call me an old softy if you must but don't let it get around.
cheers people - the two dogs in the photo (Duke and Harley) are our 2nd and third rescues from Shenton Park. Our first was Jesse (2yr old kelpie/heeler) who lived with us for 11 years. These second hand dogs have enriched our lives.
All the shelters do great work and need a hand - sadly we cant help them all. Rescue is the best breed - please share the ride details to anyone who wants to come and please encourage people to donate a few bucks to help a great cause.
