Had a dude call me about his 2000 Nightrain having a bad oil leak coming out from the drive sprocket area. Said had only happened when a local shop fitted a back tire and they had told him its common issue when fitting new back tyre and tensioning the belt back up ( had a little laugh). Anyway got the bike back to my shed and sure enough its just pouring out the inner seal from the primary. when I had stripped it down had noticed the inner bearing race had walked of the shaft and losing its contact with the lip seal. The inner race is very loose on the gearbox input shaft and I remember a while ago I had an inner race that was to tight for a late model Twincam gearbox shaft. So do the earlier model Twincams have a slightly smaller input shaft ID than the later model Twincams and could this have had a late model bearing race fitted causing it to be loose and walk away from the seal? Couple of pics and vids to come
