Advice, oil leak

hoping someone can help me on this one.

Noticed an oil leak today on the softy.

It is coming from the around the gromet which feed the wires  into the primary  from the regulator.

It seems to be coming from around the gromet rather then through the centre of gromet, if that makes sense.

Gromet doesn't seem to be deteriorated.

So what is the process to replace if I need to? Hoping someone doesn't tell me it's got to come through from the inside in which case inner primary has to come off.

    Anyone had same trouble?

It is a common problem on a lot of models ... I believe HD have improved the rubber grommet on later models for better sealing ...

Your right,, if you want to replace gromment , you will have to remove inner primary as the stator ,, wires and grommet are one unit....

As the grommet looks ok,, (and your stator is working as it should),, here's the fix,,.. clean the grommet and surrounding area with degreaser and let area dry completely ,,, get some, High Temp Black RTV silicone gasket sealer, (or similar),,, put sealer around grommet where it meets the case,, wiggle wires and grommet so sealer gets in between grommet and case as much as possible, and finish up with sealer down the grommet and up the case ,,, use a small flat blade screwdriver to get it all the way around, and to make a good job of it ....... I would let it set for at least a day , (two if possible) .....

I had same leak on my older bike , (it does give you the shits),, used the above product ,,, that was over two years ago ,,, has not leaked since...

My fantastic lemon started seeping oil from under the front cylinder. This was after a warratny job where the crankcases were split to fix another leak.

The advice I was given was "oil is cheap".

Strangley enough it turned out to be good advice. The leak went away after a while.

The last one I repaired I loaded a syringe with RTV, and injected in between the rubber seal and the case.
Prepare the area first by cleaning as best you can with brake clean or similar.
Otherwise it's primary tear down, and remove stator.
